Assistant Manager - Civil (Projects)

Responsibilities

Roles and Responsibilities

- Plan, coordinate, and oversee civil engineering projects related to power and energy infrastructure including substations, power plants, transmission lines, and associated facilities. 

- Lead site inspections, ensure compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, mechanical, and environment specialists to ensure seamless project integration.

 - Develop project timelines, allocate resources effectively, and monitor progress against milestones to ensure timely delivery. - Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to handle technical, financial, and operational challenges. 

- Manage relationships with contractors, vendors, and regulatory authorities ensuring adherence to contractual obligations and statutory requirements. 

- Review and approve technical drawings, construction methodologies, and material procurement to align with project specifications and budgets. 

- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by incorporating industry best practices, innovative technologies, and sustainable construction methods. 

- Implement and monitor health, safety, and environmental policies onsite to promote a safe working environment consistent with Adani’s values. 

- Prepare detailed progress reports, cost estimates, and project documentation for senior management and stakeholders. 

- Facilitate training and mentoring for junior engineers and field staff, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and professional development. 

- Support tendering activities by evaluating bids, preparing technical queries, and contributing to commercial negotiations. 

- Ensure compliance with local laws, environmental regulations, and company policies throughout the project lifecycle. 

- Engage in stakeholder management by providing clear communication and building strong relationships with internal and external parties. 

- Champion Adani’s corporate social responsibility initiatives by promoting community engagement and sustainable development principles at project sites.

Technical Skills

- Proficient in civil engineering design software such as AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, or equivalent. - Sound knowledge of construction methodologies specific to power plant and energy infrastructure. - Strong understanding of geotechnical investigations, foundation design, and structural analysis. - Familiarity with project management tools like MS Project or Primavera. - Expertise in cost estimation, budgeting, and resource planning. - Experience with quality assurance/quality control processes and documentation. - Knowledge of relevant standards and codes including IS, IEC, and national safety regulations. - Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contract documents. - Skilled in managing civil works for electrical substations, switchyards, and associated infrastructure.

Qualifications

Education Qualification

- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university/institution. - Postgraduate qualification or specialization in construction/project management is preferred.

Experience

6-8 years of progressive experience in civil engineering within the Power/Energy industry, with demonstrated expertise in managing and executing large-scale civil projects.
