Role Overview

We are looking for a Backend Engineer who can design and build scalable, event-driven systems that power real-time safety workflows. You will work on systems that process live location data, risk scoring, escalation logic, and monitoring pipelines. Reliability, latency, and scalability are critical.

This is a high-ownership role for someone who wants to build infrastructure that directly impacts human safety.

What You’ll Work On

• Design and implement event-driven backend systems
• Build scalable APIs for real-time safety features (SOS, tracking, check-ins, video sessions)
• Develop risk scoring and alert prioritization logic
• Implement queue-based escalation workflows
• Design database schemas optimized for high-write workloads
• Improve system performance, reliability, and fault tolerance
• Build logging, audit trails, and incident tracking infrastructure
• Work closely with mobile and ops teams to improve response latency

Required Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency in one of: Node.js / Go / Python / Java
• Experience building RESTful APIs
• Understanding of event-driven architecture
• Experience with message queues (Kafka / SQS / RabbitMQ / PubSub)
• Strong knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL / MySQL)
• Hands on Experience with cloud platforms (AWS / GCP / Azure)
• Understanding of concurrency and async processing
• Experience designing systems for scale

Good to Have

• Experience building real-time systems
• Knowledge of WebSockets / streaming systems
• Experience with microservices architecture
• Familiarity with geo-location systems
• Experience handling high-availability systems
• Understanding of DevOps practices (CI/CD, Docker, monitoring)
