Deputy General Manager - Mechanical

Responsibilities

- Lead the mechanical engineering functions for thermal power projects, ensuring all mechanical systems and equipment meet design specifications, quality standards, and safety norms. 

- Oversee the planning, execution, and commissioning phases of thermal projects, coordinating with cross-functional teams including electrical, civil, and instrumentation departments to ensure timely and efficient project delivery. 

- Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance strategies to maximize equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and optimize operational efficiency of thermal power plant machinery such as boilers, turbines, pumps, compressors, and auxiliary systems. 

- Manage vendor relationships and subcontractors to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, quality standards, and safety procedures. 

- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using data-driven analysis, root cause investigations, and best practices to enhance mechanical performance and reduce operational risks.

- Ensure adherence to statutory and environmental regulations related to mechanical operations, promoting sustainable and responsible engineering practices. 

- Prepare and monitor mechanical project budgets, resource allocation, and procurement schedules to align with financial objectives and project timelines. 

- Mentor and develop a high-performing mechanical team by providing technical guidance, training, and career development opportunities aligned with Adani’s culture of learning and growth. 

- Collaborate closely with the health, safety, and environment (HSE) teams to enforce safety policies and foster a safety-first culture in all mechanical activities. 

- Participate in strategic planning sessions to align mechanical engineering goals with overall business objectives and growth strategies. 

- Maintain comprehensive documentation of mechanical engineering processes, inspection reports, maintenance records, and compliance audits. 

- Drive innovation by evaluating and integrating emerging technologies and methodologies that enhance thermal project performance and sustainability. 

- Liaise with government bodies, regulatory authorities, and local stakeholders to ensure compliance and foster positive community relations.

- Champion Adani’s values of integrity, excellence, teamwork, and responsibility throughout all mechanical operations.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline from a recognized university. 

- Master’s degree or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Project Management is an advantage.
