Deputy Manager- Electrical

Responsibilities

The Deputy Manager - Electrical will be responsible for managing and ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of all electrical equipment and systems in the thermal power plant. This role involves strategic planning, execution of maintenance programs, troubleshooting complex electrical issues, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Electrical System Management: Oversee the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all electrical systems including switchgear, transformers, motors, generators, and power distribution networks to ensure uninterrupted power plant operations.
  • Preventive and Predictive Maintenance: Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend the life of electrical assets. Utilize condition monitoring tools and techniques to anticipate failures.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure all electrical systems comply with statutory regulations, safety standards, and Adani's internal safety policies. Promote a safety-first culture within the team and conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of electrical engineers and technicians. Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and ownership aligned with Adani’s values.
  • Project Management: Plan, coordinate, and execute electrical installation, repair, and upgrade projects. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, mechanical, instrumentation, and procurement to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Lead investigations into electrical failures or system disturbances, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Energy Efficiency and Sustainability: Identify and drive initiatives to improve energy efficiency within the electrical systems, supporting Adani’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
  • Vendor and Contractor Management: Manage relationships with electrical equipment vendors and contractors, ensuring quality, compliance, and timely delivery of services and materials.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and present technical reports, maintenance records, and performance data to senior management. Maintain accurate documentation in line with Adani’s quality management systems.
  • Continuous Improvement: Champion the adoption of new technologies and best practices in electrical engineering to enhance plant reliability and operational excellence.

Qualifications

Educational Qualification

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized university.

Certification Required

  • Certification in Electrical Safety and Maintenance Standards
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification (preferred)
  • IEC standards and Thermal Power Plant operations training certification
