Job Purpose

To maintain and repair production machinery and mechanical systems in the pet food manufacturing plant to ensure continuous, safe, and efficient operation.

🔧 Key Responsibilities

1. Machine Installation & Setup

Install and assemble production machinery such as mixers, grinders, conveyors, dryers, extruders, and packaging machines.

Align and level equipment according to technical specifications.

2. Preventive Maintenance

Perform scheduled inspections and maintenance on plant equipment.

Lubricate moving parts, replace worn components, and adjust machine settings.

3. Equipment Repair

Diagnose mechanical faults and breakdowns.

Repair or replace defective parts such as bearings, belts, gears, shafts, and seals.

4. Troubleshooting

Identify causes of mechanical failures and take corrective action.

Work with electrical and production teams to resolve equipment issues quickly.

5. Fabrication & Fitting

Cut, shape, and assemble metal parts using tools such as drills, grinders, and welding equipment.

Fit parts and assemblies to precise measurements.

6. Safety Compliance

Follow workplace safety rules and use PPE.

Ensure machinery operates safely and according to company and food safety standards.

7. Documentation

Maintain maintenance logs and records of repairs.

Report recurring problems to the maintenance supervisor.

8. Support Production

Ensure machines run smoothly during production shifts.

Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimize production downtime.

A fitter may work with:

Feed mixers

Extruders for pet food shaping

Dryers and ovens

Conveyor systems

Grinding machines

Packaging and sealing machines

Boilers and compressors

🎓 Qualifications

ITI / Diploma in Fitter or Mechanical Engineering

1–3 years of experience in manufacturing or food processing (preferred)

Mechanical troubleshooting

Machine assembly and alignment

Preventive maintenance

Welding and fabrication basics

Reading mechanical drawings

Knowledge of safety procedures

Factory / production floor

Rotational shifts may be required
