Ground Staff

Ground staff are airport employees who ensure smooth operations on the ground, handling passenger services like check-in and boarding, baggage handling, and supporting flight operations. Their duties vary by department, but common responsibilities include assisting passengers with needs and information, managing luggage, and helping with tasks like aircraft refueling and cleaning on the tarmac. 

Key responsibilities

• Passenger Services: Assist passengers with check-in, ticket sales, and reservations, and provide information on flight schedules and delays.
• Boarding and Arrival: Guide passengers through the boarding process and assist them upon arrival.
• Baggage Handling: Tag, load, unload, and transport passenger and cargo luggage.
• Special Assistance: Help passengers with special needs, such as those with disabilities or unaccompanied minors.
• Ramp Services: Work on the tarmac to guide aircraft, manage refueling, and ensure the plane is safe for departure.
• Aircraft Support: Assist with cleaning and stocking the aircraft before departure.
• Security: Help enforce safety and security protocols at the airport.
