Mechanical Manager
Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Coordination
- Prepare and implement mechanical execution plans, schedules, and micro-level look‐ahead programs.
- Track mechanical progress against the project schedule, highlight risks, and implement mitigation actions.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, quality, HSE, and site teams for smooth project execution.
2. Engineering Review & Technical Support
- Review P&IDs, GA drawings, layouts, isometrics, equipment datasheets, and technical specifications.
- Coordinate with engineering for timely issuance and resolution of TQs, NCRs, and vendor documents.
- Provide technical clarification to site teams during construction and commissioning.
3. Procurement & Vendor Coordination
- Participate in technical bid evaluations (TBE) for mechanical equipment and piping packages.
- Coordinate with vendors for drawing approvals, manufacturing progress, inspections, and material dispatch.
- Monitor delivery schedules of long-lead equipment (Boiler, Turbine, Pumps, Fans, FGD systems, etc.).
4. Mechanical Construction & Erection
- Supervise erection and installation of:
- Boiler & Auxiliaries
- Turbine-Generator & Auxiliaries
- Critical & Non-critical Piping
- Coal Handling, Ash Handling Systems
- Cooling Water Systems, Pumps, Heat Exchangers
- WTP, DM, RO, ETP/ZLD
- Monitor welding quality, fit-up, alignment, support installation, hydrotesting, and reinstatement.
- Ensure compliance with IBR, ASME, IS standards, and site QA/QC procedures.
5. Commissioning & Handover
- Support pre-commissioning and commissioning activities:
- Flushing, blowing, hydro/pneumatic tests
- Boiler light-up, turbine rolling, synchronization
- Performance guarantee (PG) test preparation
- Ensure closure of punch points and documentation for mechanical handover.
6. Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Implement HSE guidelines, permit-to-work systems, and ensure safety practices during erection.
- Ensure compliance with statutory bodies (IBR, Electrical Inspectorate, CEA as applicable).
- Ensure effective implementation of QAP/ITP and close NCRs in coordination with QA/QC.
7. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain project documentation including erection logs, test reports, WPS/PQR/WPQ, and inspection records.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports for management review.
Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech – Mechanical Engineering (mandatory).
- Certifications in Project Management, Welding/NDT, or Primavera/MSP preferred.
