• ResponsibilitiesContent CreationResearch and write news articles, feature stories, and investigative reports on a variety of topics
• Conduct interviews with sources, experts, and community members
• Attend and cover local events, press conferences, and government meetings
• Develop and maintain a network of contacts and sources
• Collaborate with photographers and videographers to create multimedia content
• Pitch story ideas and follow up on leads independently
• Adapt stories for various formats including print, web, and social media
• Stay informed about current events and trends in assigned beat areas
• Editing and Quality ControlProofread and edit articles for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style consistency
• Fact-check information in news stories and features
• Rewrite or restructure articles to improve clarity and readability
• Write headlines, subheadings, and photo captions
• Ensure articles adhere to the newspaper's style guide and editorial policies
• Collaborate with other reporters and senior editors to refine story angles and content
• Production and ManagementAssist in page layout and design when needed
• Meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom environment
• Adapt to new technologies and media trends
• QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mass Media, Journalism, English, or related field
• Fresh graduates with no prior work experience are encouraged to apply; however, 1-2 years of professional experience in journalism is preferred
• Strong portfolio of published work demonstrating versatility in writing styles (for experienced candidates)
• Excellent command of the English language (additional languages are a plus)
• Proficiency in journalistic ethics and media law
• Familiarity with AP style (or relevant local style guide)
• Basic understanding of journalism principles and news values
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of publishing software is a plus
