Position: Planning Manager – Vendor Sourcing & DevelopmentQualification: B.E. / B.Tech – Mechanical Engineering

Experience: 7–8 Years

Industry: Machine Manufacturing / Heavy Engineering

• Job Description:Planning Responsibilities:Prepare and control production planning and scheduling for machine manufacturing projects.
• Develop material planning (BOM/MRP) in coordination with design, production, and procurement teams.
• Monitor project timelines, capacity planning, and resource utilization to meet delivery commitments.
• Track manufacturing progress and take corrective actions to avoid delays.
• Coordinate with assembly, fabrication, machining, and quality departments for smooth execution.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports and MIS.
• Ensure optimization of inventory levels, WIP, and lead times.
• Vendor Sourcing & Development Responsibilities:Identify, evaluate, and onboard vendors for machining, fabrication, casting, forging, and bought-out items.
• Develop and maintain a strong vendor base to support production and cost targets.
• Conduct vendor capability assessments, audits, and performance evaluations.
• Negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms in coordination with procurement.
• Work closely with vendors to improve quality, delivery, and cost (QDC) performance.
• Handle outsourcing and subcontracting activities to meet capacity and delivery requirements.
• Resolve vendor-related issues including quality deviations and delivery delays.
• Coordination & Process Improvement:Act as a key interface between design, procurement, production, quality, and vendors.
• Implement planning tools, SOPs, and best practices to improve efficiency.
• Support cost reduction and value engineering initiatives.
• Ensure adherence to quality standards, drawings, and technical specifications.
• Key Skills & Knowledge Required:Strong knowledge of machine manufacturing processes (machining, fabrication, assembly).
• Excellent understanding of production planning, scheduling, and material control.
• Experience in vendor sourcing, development, and outsourcing management.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and BOMs.
• Good negotiation, analytical, and coordination skills.
• Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and MS Excel.
