JOB DESCRIPTION – SITE ENGINEER (STRUCTURAL & FINISHING WORKS)

Position: Site Engineer

Experience: 5 – 8 Years

Industry: Construction / Residential / Villas / Buildings

Location: Project Site

Department: Projects / Execution

Reporting To: Project Manager / Senior Engineer

Role Objective

To execute and supervise day-to-day site activities including structural works and finishing works, ensuring quality, safety, timely completion and cost control as per drawings & specifications.

Key Responsibilities

1. Structural Works Execution

Supervise excavation, PCC, footing, column, beam & slab works

Ensure proper steel checking (BBS verification) before concreting

Check shuttering alignment, levels and dimensions

Monitor concrete pouring, vibration & curing

Coordinate cube testing & maintain records

Ensure M20–M30 grade concrete quality as per mix design

Maintain pour card and checklist documentation

Identify site issues & inform seniors before casting

2. Finishing Works Execution

Supervise blockwork / brickwork alignment & plumb

Ensure plaster thickness & finishing quality

Monitor tile laying, slope, joints & levels

Handle waterproofing in toilets, terraces & basements

Oversee painting putty, primer & final coat standards

Coordinate carpentry, false ceiling & modular works

Maintain snag list & closure tracking

Ensure sample approval before bulk execution

3. Quantity & Billing

Take daily measurements and maintain DPR

Prepare BBS & reconcile steel consumption

Check contractor running bills

Material reconciliation (cement, sand, steel, tiles)

Reduce wastage and leakage

4. Planning & Coordination

Follow weekly and monthly targets

Coordinate with consultants, contractors & vendors

Ensure drawings available before work execution

Raise RFI if drawing conflict found

Maintain daily manpower & progress reports

5. Quality Control

Follow QA/QC checklist before every activity

Conduct cube test, slump test & field tests

Maintain inspection reports & checklists

Avoid rework through preventive supervision

6. Safety Responsibilities

Enforce PPE usage on site

Maintain safe scaffolding & shuttering supports

Ensure electrical & work-at-height safety

Report hazards immediately

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge in RCC & finishing sequence
• Ability to read drawings (structural + architectural)
• Good site decision-making ability
• Contractor handling skills
• Quantity estimation & measurement knowledge
• Basic AutoCAD understanding preferred
• Communication & team coordination skills

Educational Qualification

• Diploma / B.Tech in Civil Engineerin
• Preferred Experience
• Residential / Villas / Apartment projects
• Hands-on execution (not only supervision)
• Experience handling contractors independently
