Job Description

Position Overview

The Academic Counsellor will be responsible for guiding prospective students through the admissions process and achieving enrolment targets that contribute directly to university revenue growth. The role involves student counselling, admissions management, sales conversion, lead follow-up, and coordinating with academic and marketing teams.

Key Responsibilities

Student Counselling & Conversion:

  • Counsel prospective students and parents regarding academic programs, admission process, scholarships, fees, and career outcomes.
  • Convert leads into admissions by building trust and explaining value propositions of the university.
  • Conduct follow-up through calls, emails, WhatsApp, and in-person meetings to maximize conversion ratios.
  • Maintain up-to-date program knowledge and university offerings to answer queries confidently.

Admission Target Achievement

  • Meet monthly, quarterly, and annual admission targets set by the management.
  • Track conversion funnel: inquiries → counselling → form filling → enrollment → fee collection.
  • Create reports on admission progress, lead status, and revenue achievements.

Revenue Generation

  • Promote paid academic programs, value-added courses, and fee-based services to increase admissions revenue.
  • Assist the finance/admission teams on fee collection, reconciliation, and follow-ups.
  • Ensure revenue targets are met through effective student enrollment strategies.

Lead Management

  • Manage leads generated through marketing campaigns, events, referrals, digital platforms, and walk-ins.
  • Participate in student events, education fairs, school visits, and webinars to generate inquiries.
  • Maintain CRM/ERP entries and ensure data accuracy.

Team Coordination

  • Liaise with academic departments, marketing, and management to streamline admissions.
  • Support in building promotional content, counselling scripts, and market insights.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s / Master’s degree (Education, Marketing, Business Administration or related fields preferred)
  • Minimum 1–3 years of counselling/admissions/sales experience.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Target-driven mindset with experience meeting sales or admissions KPIs.
  • Ability to persuade, negotiate and build rapport with students/parents.
  • Good command over MS Office, CRM, and student management software.
