Job Description
The Role
We are looking for a technically strong, creatively driven Design Architect who can take a client's requirement from a brief conversation to a complete set of working drawings and photorealistic 3D renders — fast, accurately, and beautifully.
You will be the bridge between what the client imagines and what the factory builds. You will work directly with the sales team to win clients through compelling visual presentations, and with the production team to ensure every drawing that goes to the factory floor is buildable, dimensionally accurate, and complete.
If you are someone who is obsessed with precision, proud of your renders, and fast with your software — this role is built for you.
What You Will Do
Design Development
- Develop architectural designs for modular and prefab structures including A-Frame cabins, arc pods, barn houses, container homes, modular cottages, wooden houses, and site offices based on client requirements and site conditions
- Prepare design concepts, floor plan options, and elevation studies at the briefing stage — fast enough to present to a client in the same week the enquiry comes in
- Iterate designs based on client feedback, budget constraints, and factory manufacturing capabilities
- Ensure all designs are buildable within Texo's prefab system — not just architecturally appealing but factory-feasible
- Develop standard design templates for Texo's core product range that can be customised per project without starting from scratch every time
Technical Drawing Production
- Prepare complete sets of working drawings for every approved project including floor plans, elevations, sections, reflected ceiling plans, door and window schedules, and detail drawings
- Produce fabrication drawings and shop drawings for the factory production team — dimensionally precise, material-specific, and stage-wise sequenced
- Prepare MEP coordination drawings in collaboration with the MEP team
- Ensure all drawings are compliant with applicable building codes and standards
- Maintain a clean, organised, and version-controlled drawing register for all active and completed projects
- Prepare drawing packages for client approvals, municipal submissions, and factory dispatch — each requiring a different level of detail and presentation
3D Visualisation and Rendering
- Produce high-quality 3D models and photorealistic renders for client presentations, sales proposals, and marketing use
- Create exterior renders showing the structure in its site context — with landscaping, lighting, and surroundings that help the client visualise the final outcome
- Create interior renders for key spaces — living areas, bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms — showing material finishes, furniture, and lighting
- Produce walkthrough videos or animated renders for premium client presentations when required
- Support the sales team with quick concept visuals and mood board presentations during the enquiry stage — speed matters here as much as quality
Sales Support
- Present design proposals to managers professionally — able to explain design decisions, answer technical questions, and handle revision requests without losing composure
- Prepare design portfolios, product catalogues, and presentation decks that showcase Texo's design capabilities for sales and marketing use
- Support the creation of brochure content, website imagery, and social media design content from rendered project visuals
Production Coordination
- Coordinate with the Production Supervisor and factory team to ensure drawings are clear, complete, and actionable before release to the shop floor
- Attend production review meetings to address drawing queries from the fabrication team
- Issue revised drawings promptly when design changes are approved — with clear revision clouds and version tracking
- Maintain the as-built drawing record for completed projects
What We Are Looking For
Education
- Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) — Required
- Council of Architecture (CoA) registration — Required. Candidates must provide their CoA registration number at the time of application
- Postgraduate qualification in Interior Design, Sustainable Architecture, or related field — Advantageous
Experience
- Minimum 2–5 years of professional experience in architectural design and drafting
- Hands-on experience specifically in modular construction, prefab structures, container architecture, or light steel frame buildings — strongly preferred
- Candidates from interior design firms, modular furniture companies, PEB (Pre-Engineered Buildings) companies, or hospitality design firms will be considered
- Freshers with exceptional software skills and a strong portfolio demonstrating 3D rendering ability will be considered for a junior level with adjusted compensation
Software Skills — This Is Non-Negotiable
The following must be demonstrated with work samples at the time of interview. Claiming proficiency without being able to show output will disqualify a candidate immediately.
Mandatory — must be highly proficient:
- AutoCAD — 2D drafting, layering, plotting, and sheet setup at production drawing standard
- SketchUp — 3D modelling, site context modelling, and design development
- Lumion or Enscape or V-Ray — photorealistic rendering and animation
- Adobe Photoshop — post-processing renders and presentation graphics
Strongly preferred — candidates with these will be prioritised:
- Revit or ArchiCAD — BIM modelling
- 3ds Max — advanced rendering and visualisation
- Adobe Illustrator or InDesign — design presentation and brochure layout
- Tekla steel technical drawings
- AutoCAD Electrical or MEP drafting experience
Basic proficiency expected:
- Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets — drawing registers, schedules, and BOQ support
- Google Drive or similar — file management and version control
- WhatsApp and email — client and team communication
What a Strong Portfolio Looks Like
Your portfolio is your application. It must include at minimum:
- At least 3 complete working drawing sets showing floor plans, elevations, sections, and details
- At least 5 photorealistic exterior and interior renders from different project types
- At least 1 example of a 3D model showing the design development process, not just the final output
- Any experience with modular, container, or prefab structures will significantly strengthen your application
