Job Description

A Loans Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire loan lifecycle—from sourcing and assessing applications to approval, disbursement, monitoring, and collections—while ensuring portfolio quality, compliance, and customer service.

In banks/NBFCs this is typically a target‑driven role combining credit, operations, and team management responsibilities.

Core role overviewManage end‑to‑end lending activities for assigned loan products (personal, business, home, vehicle, MSME, etc.), ensuring profitable and compliant growth.

Act as the key link between customers, sales team, credit/underwriting, operations, collections, and senior management.

Key responsibilitiesEvaluate and approve/recommend loan applications by analysing income, assets, bank statements, credit history, and repayment capacity.

Structure loans (amount, tenure, interest, security, EMI) according to risk assessment and internal policy, including rejecting high‑risk proposals when required.

Oversee accurate processing in LOS/LMS systems from application, KYC and documentation to disbursement and servicing.

Monitor repayment performance, track delinquencies, and coordinate with collections team to reduce NPAs and improve recovery.

Compliance and risk controlEnsure all loans follow RBI/other regulatory guidelines and internal credit policies, including proper KYC, documentation, and approval authority limits.

Maintain strong internal controls on loan files, documentation, and system entries, and support audits and risk reviews with accurate records and MIS.

Sales, relationships, and portfolioSupport business targets by guiding sales teams on product fit, documentation, and credit norms, and by recommending suitable loan products to customers.

Build and maintain relationships with key customers, DSAs/partners, fintechs, and other stakeholders to generate quality business.

Review portfolio reports (disbursals, yields, bounce rates, NPAs) and suggest process or policy improvements to management.

Team and operational managementLead and train branch/loan officers on credit checks, documentation standards, customer communication, and system usage.Define and refine SOPs to improve TAT, accuracy, and customer satisfaction in loan operations and servicing.
