Job Description: Assistant Cook (Commis)

Location: Cloud Kitchen / Cafe Site


Role Objective

To support the Head Chef in the daily preparation and execution of Yellolife’s Mediterranean menu and nutritional meal plans. The Assistant Cook ensures that all "Mise-en-place" (preparation) is completed to standard, allowing the kitchen to run like a well-oiled machine during peak hours.

Key Responsibilities

Mise-en-Place (Prep Work): Handle daily vegetable prepping, sauce making, and dough portioning for pizzas and pastas. Ensure all ingredients are fresh and stored at the correct temperatures.

Mediterranean Execution: Assist in cooking pasta to al dente perfection, prepping Mediterranean grills, and assembling salads according to the brand's specific plating standards.


Meal Plan Assembly:

Precisely weigh and portion ingredients for "Personalized Meal Plans." Accuracy is critical here—if a plan calls for 150g of protein, it must be exactly 150g.

Station Maintenance: Keep the induction/range area, chopping boards, and knives sanitized at all times. Follow a "Clean-as-you-go" policy.

Inventory Assistance: Alert the Head Chef or Raju (Admin/Stores) when stock levels of key ingredients like olive oil, feta, or special flours are running low.


Quality Support:

Assist Rishi in ensuring that every delivery container is sealed correctly and labeled with the right nutritional sticker.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Experience: At least 2 years in a professional kitchen (preferably Mediterranean, Italian, or a high-end health cafe).

Knife Skills: Fast and precise chopping/slicing skills are a must.

Basic Nutritional Knowledge: Understanding the difference between healthy fats and refined fats; awareness of cross-contamination (especially for gluten-free or vegan orders).


Stamina: Ability to work on your feet in a fast-paced cloud kitchen environment.

Discipline: Ability to follow SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) exactly as written by the Head Chef without taking shortcuts.
