About the Role

Join the Data Office to drive the implementation of CRISIL’s data catalog (OpenMetadata). This is a hands-on, individual contributor role. You’ll work closely with the Data Governance Lead and a Taxonomy/Ontology expert to turn standards into working processes inside the catalog.

What You’ll Do

• Drive end-to-end implementation of the data catalog in collaboration with governance and engineering teams
• Define and execute metadata ingestion from key source systems (via connectors/APIs/pipelines with engineering support)
• Set up data domains, datasets, ownership, and stewardship workflows
• Build and link a business glossary to datasets (column-level awareness preferred)
• Establish initial approach to lineage (starting simple e.g.: table level where feasible)
• Operationalize SOPs and workflows based on defined policies/standards
• Partner with business and tech teams to ensure catalog usability and adoption
• Track KPIs (coverage, usage, quality) and continuously improve the catalog
• Work with platform/vendor teams on enhancements and upgrades

What We’re Looking For

• 6–10 years in meta data management / governance / related roles
• Hands-on experience in implementing (or significantly contributing to) a data catalog—not just using/administering it
• Experience with tools like Collibra, Alation, Informatica (Axon/EDC), OpenMetadata, or similar tools

Solid understanding of:

• Metadata ingestion (APIs/connectors/pipelines)
• Business glossary and metadata modeling
• Data lineage concepts
• Ability to translate policies into executable workflows and SOPs
• Strong stakeholder skills across business and engineering teams
• Comfortable breaking down ambiguous problems into a practical, phased plan

Good to Have

• Working knowledge of SQL / data modeling
• Exposure to data engineering workflows
• Background in banking, financial services, or consulting
• Familiarity with data contracts or schema governance concepts

• Not a pure governance/theory role
• Not a data engineering/coding-heavy role

Mandatory Skills

Education Qualification

Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management or related field. Certifications such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), or Collibra certified Steward/Engineer/ranger etc are a plus
