Dental Assistant

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Support

1. Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for procedures.

2. Chairside assistance during general and specialist dental treatments.

3. Maintain clear aspiration, instrument transfer, and four-handed dentistry standards.

4. Assist when taking dental radiographs in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Infection Prevention & Control

1. Sterilize and decontaminate instruments in line with HTM 01-05 or equivalent standards.

2. Maintain strict cross-infection protocols and clinical hygiene.

3. Monitor and log sterilization cycles and equipment maintenance.

Patient Care & Experience

1. Welcome and prepare patients for treatment.

2. Provide clear pre- and post-operative instructions.

3. Ensure patient comfort, safety, and confidentiality at all times.

4. Manage anxious patients with professionalism and composure.

Operational & Administrative Support

1. Manage stock control, ordering, and storage of clinical supplies.

2. Ensure treatment rooms remain clean, stocked, and audit-ready.

3. Support appointment flow to minimize delays and maximize productivity.

4. Assist with compliance documentation and CQC requirements (where applicable).
