Job Title: Education Counsellor Job Summary: The Education Counsellor will work with students and clients to provide guidance and support in their educational and career pursuits. The Education Counsellor will assess the needs of the students and clients, provide information about educational and career opportunities, and assist them in developing a plan to achieve their goals. Responsibilities: Conduct individual or group counselling sessions with students and clients to assess their needs, interests, and strengths. Provide information about educational and career opportunities, including academic programs, scholarships, and job openings. Assist students and clients in developing a plan to achieve their educational and career objectives. Help students and clients identify and overcome barriers to their success, such as academic challenges, financial difficulties, or personal issues. Collaborate with other professionals, such as academic advisors, career coaches, and mental health counsellors, to provide comprehensive support to students and clients. Maintain accurate records of counselling sessions and student progress. Participate in professional development activities to stay up-to-date with educational and career trends and best practices. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Requirements: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in counselling, education, psychology, or a related field. Experience in counselling, advising, or teaching in an educational setting. Knowledge of educational and career opportunities, including academic programs, scholarships, and job openings. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to listen actively, provide feedback, and build rapport with students and clients. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Proficiency in using computer applications and software, including Microsoft Office and student information systems. A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards in counselling practice. Working Conditions: The Education Counsellor may work in an educational institution, such as a high school, college, or university, or in a private counselling centre. The job may involve working evenings or weekends to accommodate student schedules. The Education Counsellor may also need to travel to attend professional development workshops or meet with clients off-site.
