Job Description

Job Title: General Insurance Sales Manager (Corporate / SME)

Department: Business Development / Corporate Sales

Location: Hyderabad (or as applicable)

Reporting To: Business Head / Associate Partner


Job Summary

The General Insurance Sales Manager will be responsible for acquiring new Corporate and SME clients

and growing an assigned portfolio through cross-selling and relationship management. This is a front-

end, revenue-focused role that requires strong prospecting capability, consultative selling skills, and the

ability to build long-term relationships with CFOs, HR Heads, Promoters, and Risk Managers. The role

focuses on driving premium growth while delivering a high-quality advisory experience in line with the

company’s ethical and client-centric positioning.


Key Responsibilities

1. New Business Development (Hunter Role)

 Identify, prospect, and onboard new SME and Corporate clients across target industries.

 Generate fresh leads through networking, referrals, cold outreach, industry events, and channel

partnerships.

 Pitch General Insurance solutions to decision-makers including CFOs, HR Heads, Promoters, and

Risk Heads.

 Participate in tenders, RFPs, and corporate insurance evaluations.

 Consistently achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual premium and revenue targets.

2. Account Management & Portfolio Growth (Farmer Role)

 Manage and grow an assigned book of existing Corporate and SME clients.

 Cross-sell and up-sell multiple lines of General Insurance such as:

Property, Marine, Engineering, Liability, Motor, Cyber, and Specialty lines.

 Identify coverage gaps and business expansion opportunities within existing accounts.

 Drive renewals, retention, and wallet-share growth year-on-year.

 Build long-term, trust-based relationships with key client stakeholders.


3. Client Advisory & Solution Positioning

 Understand client business models, operations, and risk exposures at a high level.

 Position customized insurance programs in coordination with the underwriting / ops team.

 Present quote comparisons, coverage recommendations, and value propositions clearly to

clients.

 Articulate differentiation based on coverage quality, claims support, and service reliability (not

just price).

4. Insurer & Market Coordination (Commercial Interface Only)

 Work closely with internal underwriting and placement teams for quotes, negotiations, and

policy issuance.

 Maintain strong working relationships with insurance company sales and marketing teams.

 Gather market intelligence on pricing trends, insurer appetite, and competitor activity.

 Leverage insurer relationships to support competitive positioning and deal closures.

5. Revenue, Reporting & Performance Management

 Own premium, revenue, and collection targets for assigned accounts.

 Track sales pipeline, lead status, conversion ratios, and closure timelines.

 Prepare periodic sales performance reports for management.

 Ensure timely follow-ups for premium payments and policy confirmations.

6. Claims Interface & Service Support (Client-Facing Only)

 Act as the primary point of contact for clients during claim intimations.

 Coordinate with the internal claims team to ensure smooth claim documentation and follow-

ups.

 Use claims service quality as a key retention and relationship-building lever.

Qualifications & Experience

 Graduate degree in any discipline (MBA preferred)

 10–15 years of experience in Corporate / SME Insurance Sales or Insurance Broking

 Proven track record in new client acquisition and premium growth

 Experience selling Property, Liability, Marine, Engineering, Motor, and Specialty lines

 Strong network within SME and mid-corporate segments (preferred)

 IRDAI certification (if applicable) preferred
