Role description: The Health & Safety Manager develops, implements, and oversees health and safety policies, ensuring compliance, risk mitigation, and a strong safety culture across all operations.

Provides strategic HSW support across the country / region Ensure project delivery across Arcadis is done safely, offering assurance or HSW risk management and compliance. Leads process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives. Drive HSW engagement across the region.

Role accountabilities:

•  Implement and shape country HSW strategy in alignment with regional/global direction 
•  Oversee significant HSW risk programs and assessments ensuring governance of complex or high-risk projects, supply chain HSW processes, crisis response and business continuity planning 
• Ensure compliance with relevant HSW legislation and ISO certification 
•  Represent Arcadis at high-level client meetings, audits, cross-functional global projects and regulatory engagements 
• Lead on major incident investigations and legal compliance matters 
• Analyse and report countrywide HSW trends, providing strategic insights
•  Advise and influence senior leadership on HSW risks and opportunities 
• Lead external and internal audits, responsible for closing out identified actions and represent Arcadis in certification processes and external forums 
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives and champion innovative HSW solutions 
• Lead on the integration of wellbeing into country/regional health and safety programmes, particularly wellbeing risk assessment, wellbeing promotion, wellbeing advocates and wellbeing support. 
• Partner with senior leadership on HSW performance improvement plans 
• Design and deliver training and professional development for the HSW function 
• Advise project managers and staff on regulatory and client HSW requirements 
• Coach and develop level 1 and 2 specialists (where required)

Shared responsibilities

•  Collaborate with global HSW leadership to shape strategic priorities 
• Coach senior management to integrate HSW into business planning 
• Lead knowledge sharing forums and global improvement initiatives. 
• Strategize with Global HSW office, sharing best practices and ensuring consistent implementation of strategic goals throughout the region.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Professional certifications is Health Safety Wellbeing 
• Certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent preferred.

Key Competencies

• 5 years of experience in HSW leadership roles ·
•  Expertise in HSW compliance standards and risk management of the specific country or region · 
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills · 
• Experience with ISO 45001 implementation, maintenance, and certification processes · 
• Experience with ISO 45003 implementation (desirable) · 
• Demonstrable experience in incident investigation, risk management, and regulatory compliance · 
• Experience liaising with regulatory authorities (e.g., HSE) and managing statutory obligations · 
• Competence in HSW management systems, data analytics, and digital reporting tools · 
• Excellent communication, influencing, problem solving and analytical skills · 
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills (internal and external/clients) ·
•  Builds and maintains trust through transparency, reliability, and ethical leadership.
