Job Description

1. Recruitment & Manpower Planning

Forecast manpower needs for plant (operators, supervisors, helpers), warehouse (loaders, storekeepers), office (accounts, purchase, sales, admin), and field (sales executives, collection staff).

Conduct local hiring drives through consultancies, references, and skill centers.

Ensure cost-effective recruitment without compromising quality.

Build a reserve pool of casual/contract labour for urgent workload.

2. Onboarding & Employee Records

Prepare offer letters, ID cards, ESI/PF registration, and bank accounts for all new joiners.

Maintain service records (attendance, leaves, transfers, promotions).

Conduct structured inductions: explaining company rules, safety, quality expectations, and reporting lines.

3. Payroll & Benefits

Handle payroll for permanent, contractual, and daily wage workers.

Manage overtime, production incentives, conveyance allowances, canteen deductions.

Ensure statutory deductions (PF, ESI, PT, TDS) and issue payslips monthly.

Track wage cost vs. productivity for management.

4. Performance & Productivity

Define KPI/KRAs for each department:

Plant – production efficiency, wastage control

Sales – monthly tonnage sold, collection efficiency

Purchase – timely procurement, cost savings

Accounts – accuracy, compliance timeliness

Admin – support, cost control

Conduct monthly performance reviews with HODs and report to MD.

 

 

5. Training & Skill Development

Train plant workers on safety, machine handling, quality control.

Train office staff on ERP/accounting systems, GST/IGST compliance, documentation.

Upskill sales staff on customer handling, negotiation, and product knowledge (copper, brass, steel grades).

Conduct periodic refresher training on factory compliance & ISO standards.

6. Compliance & Legal

Ensure adherence to Factories Act, Labour Laws, Shops & Establishment Act, PF, ESI, Bonus, Gratuity, and Contract Labour Rules.

Maintain all registers for labour inspector, PF/ESI officers, GST auditors.

Coordinate with consultants for statutory filings.

Ensure safety drills, PPE use, fire safety, first-aid facilities in factory & warehouse.

7. Industrial Relations & Discipline

Address grievances from plant workers, drivers, loaders, and office staff.

Enforce company rules on timing, absenteeism, negligence, and misconduct.

Handle union/worker committee discussions tactfully (if arises).

Promote a culture of integrity, discipline, and teamwork.

8. Employee Engagement & Welfare

Organize welfare initiatives:

Health check-ups

Canteen hygiene & meal quality

Uniforms / safety gear distribution

Celebrate festivals (Diwali, Ganesh Chaturthi, Independence Day) to build unity.

Conduct monthly open forums where employees can share issues directly with HR.

9. Health, Safety & Environment

Collaborate with Plant Head & Safety Officer to ensure:

PPE (helmets, gloves, masks, boots) mandatory on shop floor.

Zero-accident culture through training & awareness.

Proper waste disposal of scrap, chemicals, oils as per environmental rules.

10. HR Strategy & MIS

Submit monthly HR MIS report to MD:

Headcount (permanent, contract, casual)

Attendance, absenteeism, attrition rate

Overtime cost, wage vs. production ratio

Training conducted & compliance status

Plan retention strategies to reduce attrition in sales & plant operations.

Align workforce planning with business growth (new projects, expansion in steel trading).
