Inviting applications for the role of Lead Consultant – Data Centre operations

Responsibilities

·       Collaborative partner: Works autonomously and with other engineers and customers to support and maintain monitoring products by ensuring availability of all tools and completing customer requests on-time with quality. Addresses technical challenges and ensures quality through collaborative design and development.

·       Forward Thinker: Applies proactive mindset to continually look for ways to improve performance, quality and efficiency. Designs, develops, analyzes, and automates report on critical metrics that provide insights into overall health ensuring the notifications are delivered effectively and efficiently to meet the enterprise availability, stability and reliability goals.

·       Problem Solver: Configures, administers and manages core monitoring infrastructure to support the tools (custom or vended), including new releases, upgrades, patch, and vulnerability management. Champions on core observability principles delivery solutions based on effective Application Performance Monitoring, Infrastructure or Platform Monitoring, Real User Monitoring, Synthetics Monitoring, Mobile Monitoring, Network Monitoring and SaaS / Cloud Monitoring.

·       Customer Centric Engineer: Oversees best practice in the implementation of rigorous monitoring procedures and focuses on operational readiness. Understands and champions existing processes while continually investigating industry best practices and challenging the status quo to support continuously improve user experience.

·       Automation and Governance: Administers IT Runbook system to ensure all processes are properly documented and adhered to published standards. Enforces compliance requirements for documentation’s data integrity, accuracy, and completeness. Helps automate, streamline or rectify workflows required for onboarding or instrumentation of applications, infrastructure, databases, and other middleware tiers to monitoring products.

·       Site Reliability Mindset: Participates in root cause analysis exercise and builds post-mortem documents of the critical problems. Identifies opportunities, design and build automated tools that help reduce efforts and saves cost on repeatable tasks for cross-platform products. Leads technical war-room calls with IT service providers, application owners, and senior leadership in a high-pressure, high stakes environment. 
Analyzes long-term impact of new or anticipated strategies and contributes to business and functional strategy.
Actively participates in agile team and ceremonies.
Welcomes new ideas, learns from successes and failures.

Qualifications we seek in you!

Minimum Qualifications

·       Advanced knowledge of Observability platform tools like NewRelic (for APM,  Browser,  logs, Synthetic, infrastructure and insight).

·       Experience with Kentik Tool for network systems/devices observability and telemetry

·       Experience logs forwarding tools such as Cribl, Honeycomb, Splunk and NR.

·       Experience with cloud platforms AWSContainer platforms like Kubenetes.

·       Experience with Elasticsearch, Kibana, and Logstash.

·       Experience with web based services and protocols ( HTTP , HTTPS, REST , Apache , Tomcat).

·       Working knowledge of AppDynamics, with any of these nice to have skills such as Splunk and SolarWinds. Proven knowledge of and interest in software that enables observability of systems broadly, and know the multiplier effect this can have on operations and DevOps teams.

·       Familiarity with microservice architectures and deployment. Familiarity with messaging systems like MQ, activeMQ, Kafka etc Experience with various java platforms.

Preferred Qualifications/ Skills

·       Solid experience working in an agile development environment with clear understanding on Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles. 

·       Experience operating in an environment driven by KPIs where you have the accountability to determine the best course of action to meet your goals.

·       Excellent written/verbal communication and facilitation skills for communicating at all levels, including strong presentation skills.

·       Undergraduate degree in engineering, computer science, information systems or related degree preferred.

·       Relevant years of IT experience with advanced knowledge of Observability platforms.
