A Day in the Life

Lead Systems V&V in Test for the Cardiac Rhythm Management Systems R&D Engineering function of Medtronic Engineering and Innovation Center R&D facility. The individual will operate in all phases and contribute to all activities of the systems engineering group. The candidate must be a motivated engineer, willing to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking, team environment. The position responsibilities will primarily focus on system integration and system verification for Medtronic products, with future opportunity to expand into system definition and design. The position offers an excellent opportunity for an engineer interested in designing and executing test plans to produce reliable and successful products. The CRM Systems team is looking for a proactive, self-starting, strong software development engineer to build the next generation of CRM software

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned

• Proficiency in the programming language, Python, is essential for writing and maintaining automation scripts.
• Test Design and Development: The ability to design effective test cases, create automation scripts, and develop reusable test components is vital.
• Version Control: Proficiency in using version control systems like Git is essential for managing and collaborating on automation scripts.
• Databases and SQL: Understanding databases and SQL is helpful for accessing and manipulating data during testing. 
• Debugging and Troubleshooting: Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills are necessary to identify and fix issues in automation scripts and test environments.
• Performance, Security, and Regression Testing: Experience in these types of testing, particularly in an automated context, can be a significant advantage.
• Analytical Thinking: The ability to analyze requirements, identify potential issues, and design effective test strategies is crucial.
• Attention to Detail: Thoroughness and attention to detail are essential for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of automation scripts and test results.
• Understand scope of project use scenarios from interpretation of the system model and consultation with project systems engineers
• Transform use scenarios into defined test cases; drive test automation strategy for various projects; design test cases
• Support manual system integration and system verification test execution
• Provide guidance, coaching, and training to other employees within job area.
• Understand and execute best practices of Systems Engineering processes, advocate for high quality engineering.

Required Knowledge and Experience

• Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology in Computer Sciences, Bio-Technology, Bio-Medical, Electronics or Electrical Engineering from a premium institute.
• Preferred: Maters in Engineering or Masters in Technology in Computer Sciences, Bio-Technology, Bio-Medical, Electronics or Electrical Engineering from a premium institute.
• 10+ years of Software industry experience
• Proficiency with one or more of the following programming languages: Python, C++, Objective C
• 4+ years of experience in Software/Test framework Design, test automation with Python
• Experience developing software applications or test automation with Python
• Experience developing manual / automated tests for mobile and embedded applications.  Also, Web Application is good to have.
• Familiarity with both Agile and Waterfall software development methods
• Ability to test, analyze, and solve technical problems
• Strong organizational skills
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Design/test experience working with regulated medical devices, preferred
• Experience working within a regulated environment is preferred
• Experience with software version control tools is preferred.
• Quality focus, willingness to learn, versatility and adaptability
• Experience performing system-level or verification-level testing, preferred
