OT Scrub

Job Title:

OT Scrub Nurse / Operating Room Scrub Nurse.

The OT Scrub Nurse is responsible for maintaining a sterile field during surgical procedures, preparing and handling surgical instruments, and assisting surgeons throughout operations. The role ensures patient safety, infection control, and efficient surgical workflow in accordance with hospital policies and clinical standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Pre-Operative Duties
• Prepare the operating theatre and ensure availability of sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies
• Perform surgical hand scrub, gowning, and gloving according to aseptic protocols
• Check sterility, functionality, and completeness of surgical instruments and trays
• Verify patient identity, procedure, and surgical site as part of safety checklists
• Assist in patient positioning and skin preparation while maintaining sterility.
• Intra-Operative Duties
• Maintain strict aseptic technique throughout the procedure
• Anticipate surgeon’s needs and pass instruments, sutures, and supplies accurately
• Count instruments, sponges, and sharps with circulating nurse before, during, and after surgery
• Handle specimens correctly and pass them for labeling and dispatch
