Picker / Packer

A Picker Packer fulfills customer orders in a warehouse by selecting (picking) items from shelves, verifying accuracy, and then packing, labeling, and preparing them for shipment, often involving quality checks, inventory updates, and operating warehouse equipment like scanners or pallet jacks while focusing on accuracy, speed, and safety. Key duties include interpreting order lists, pulling merchandise, ensuring product quality, boxing and sealing items securely, applying correct labels, updating stock records, and maintaining an organized, safe workspace.

Key Responsibilities

Order Fulfillment: Accurately locate and retrieve items from warehouse inventory based on order slips or digital lists.

Quality Control: Inspect products for damage or defects before packing, ensuring customers receive intact items.

Packing: Select appropriate packaging, add cushioning, seal boxes securely, and weigh packages.

Labeling: Print and affix accurate shipping labels with tracking and address information.

Inventory Management: Update stock records, report shortages, and maintain organized shelf locations.

Equipment Operation: Use handheld scanners, pallet jacks, dollies, or other machinery as needed.

Safety & Housekeeping: Follow safety protocols, keep work areas clean, and report maintenance issues.

Skills & Requirements

Attention to detail for order accuracy.

Ability to work efficiently, often standing for long periods.

Basic reading and math skills.

Familiarity with scanners and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is a plus.
