The Department:

Because Invesco understands data and the products created from data are the lifeblood of our business, we have created a global Enterprise Technology Services (ETS). ETS is a linchpin of an ecosystem of data-first functions that will work together seamlessly to enable Invesco to achieve the true value of data and data products. ETS will empower Invesco to leverage data as a strategic asset by making quality, trusted data and content available to the right people, at the right time, in the right format, in the most efficient way possible to enable both large transformations and day-to-day operations.

Your Role:

The Data Steward executes on the defined data strategy and roadmaps to improve the quality, availability, and usability of their respective domain data. They develop a strong understanding of their data domain, including both how it is produced and consumed and how to apply ETS strategy and practices to drive data capabilities forward. All work is done in partnership with business and technology stakeholders to ensure consistency of services and deliverables.  They perform complex “hands-on-keys” work to identify, research, and remediate data quality issues, create processes to prevent recurrence, and measure continual improvement in data quality.   

The Data Steward is crucial to enable and track progress against Invesco’s strategy – trustworthy data is foundational to deliver a superior investment and client experience.

You will be responsible for:

• Provide support for various Data Domains.

• Consistently make proactive suggestions regarding product usability, presentation, and data quality.

• Proactively identifies, escalates, and resolves data issues.

• Perform initial triage/research for data issues and escalate/route as necessary.

• Provide insights regarding themes around issues and errors and propose solutions.

• Working closely with Data Product Owners, provide Data Analysis support for various development and research efforts.

• Proactively analyze data to answer key questions for stakeholders, with an eye on what drives business performance, and investigate and communicate which areas need improvement in efficiency and productivity.

• Defines, standardizes, measures, and monitors data quality metrics.

• Develops reports/dashboards that enable data quality health checks by senior leaders.

• Provide reporting of start of day data quality checks and track issue resolution.

• Identify CDEs and maintain the data dictionary, aligning consumers to a standardized set of fields and definitions.

• Provide business analysis and bridge the domain gap between functional teams and technology teams with solutions.

• Work closely with Data Product owners to understand and maintain focus on their analytics needs, including critical metrics and KPIs, and deliver actionable insights to relevant decision-makers.

• Build complex queries, analyze the data, and build logical comparisons and data aggregations using SQL and provide processed information to clients.

• Create new opportunities for Automation and LEAN to improve the workflow efficiency.

• Work closely with key stakeholders and data product owners to create/maintain stewardship processes and define SLAs to meet evolving business needs.

• Implement DQ monitoring per business rules and create associated remediation workflow.

• Partner with the data product owners to maintain the product roadmap and forecast resource needs and milestones.

• Address complex data issues escalated by junior associates, requiring expertise in data, systems, and business.

• Coach and mentor; set goals and help each team member translate that into individual performance goals.

• Drive operational excellence and success of the team.

The experience you bring:

• 7-10 years relevant experience.

• BA/BS in a relevant field.

• Effectively manages multiple responsibilities, demonstrates initiative, and meets deadlines.

• Solid understanding of desk top tools and ability to leverage for analytic and communication purposes.

• Lead through ambiguity and enable the team to execute independently on department goals.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Advance level SQL and Excel skills required.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.

• Knowledge of data, analysis, and processes related to various asset classes and products.

• Technical and business background with experience in investments data; specifically, asset management and/or financial services industry data is a plus.

• Knowledge of data management systems and best practices.  Ability to drive execution of the strategy.

• Client-first mindset.

Nice to haves:

• Experience with additional data analysis tools such as VBA, Python, Alteryx, or PowerBI.
