A Day in the Life

The Enterprise Windchill Architect is responsible for designing, governing, and evolving the end-to-end PLM architecture built on PTC Windchill. The role ensures scalable, secure, and integrated PLM platforms that support product development, engineering collaboration, and digital thread initiatives across the enterprise.

The architect works closely with engineering, IT, product development, manufacturing, and digital transformation teams to define the PLM architecture stack and integration landscape.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

• Design, govern, and evolve the enterprise PLM architecture built on PTC Windchill.
• Define and maintain the PLM architecture stack and integration landscape across enterprise systems.
• Ensure scalability, performance, and security of the Windchill platform and associated solutions.
• Collaborate with engineering, product development, and IT teams to align PLM capabilities with business needs.
• Lead architectural initiatives supporting digital thread and product data management strategies.
• Define and guide integrations between Windchill and enterprise systems such as ERP, CAD, ALM, and manufacturing platforms.
• Establish architecture standards, governance frameworks, and best practices for PLM implementations.
• Provide technical leadership during platform upgrades, migrations, and transformation initiatives.
• Mentor technical teams and review solution designs to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards.

Required Knowledge and Experience: 

• 14+ years of IT experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, MCA, MSc, or MBA.
• Hands-on experience in designing, governing, and evolving enterprise PLM architecture built on PTC Windchill.
• Strong experience in defining the PLM architecture stack and integration landscape.
• Proven ability to build scalable, secure, and integrated PLM platforms.
• Experience integrating Windchill with CAD tools, ERP systems, and other enterprise applications.
• Strong understanding of PLM processes, product data management, and engineering collaboration workflows.
• Experience working in enterprise architecture or solution architecture roles within large global organizations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
