Job Title: Manager – Purchase (CAPEX)

Location: Narsingi, Hyderabad & Kandi Sanga Reddy

Department: Supply Chain / Procurement

Qualification: B.Tech / BE in Mechanical / Electrical / Industrial Engineering (MBA in Supply Chain preferred)

Experience: Minimum 6–10 Years in CAPEX Procurement (Food Processing / Manufacturing / Industrial Projects)

Job PurposeTo lead and manage CAPEX procurement for centralized kitchen infrastructure, machinery, utilities, and project equipment ensuring timely availability, cost optimization, vendor compliance, and adherence to organizational procurement policies and audit standards of The Akshaya Patra Foundation.

Key Responsibilities

1. CAPEX Procurement ManagementPlan and execute procurement of kitchen machinery, boilers, conveyors, fabrication, utilities, electrical systems, HVAC, civil & MEP works, and project-related equipment.

Coordinate with Engineering, Projects, and Operations teams for technical specifications, BOQs, and procurement schedules.

Ensure timely procurement aligned with project timelines and expansion plans.

2. Vendor Development & NegotiationIdentify, evaluate, and empanel OEMs, fabricators, contractors, and suppliers.

Conduct technical and commercial evaluations, comparative statements, and vendor finalization.

Lead negotiations for pricing, delivery, warranties, AMCs, and payment terms to achieve cost savings.

3. Budgeting & Cost ControlPrepare and monitor CAPEX budgets and procurement plans.

Track procurement costs vs. approved budgets and highlight variances.

Drive cost optimization initiatives through alternate sourcing, value engineering, and vendor rationalization.

4. Contract & Documentation ManagementPrepare and manage Purchase Orders, Contracts, AMCs, Service Agreements, and Compliance Documentation.

Ensure adherence to organizational procurement policies, audit requirements, and donor compliance norms.

Maintain vendor database, performance scorecards, and procurement records.

5. Project CoordinationWork closely with Project, Engineering, and Maintenance teams for installation schedules, inspections, FAT/SAT, and commissioning support.

Ensure procurement milestones align with kitchen commissioning timelines.

Resolve procurement-related project bottlenecks.

6. Compliance, Risk & AuditEnsure compliance with internal controls, procurement SOPs, and statutory requirements.

Support internal and external audits related to CAPEX procurement.

Mitigate procurement risks through vendor diversification and contract safeguards.

7. Team LeadershipLead and mentor Purchase Executives and Procurement Officers.

Allocate tasks, monitor performance, and build procurement capability within the team.

Develop procurement SOPs and best practices.

Skills & Competencies RequiredStrong technical understanding of industrial equipment, MEP systems, fabrication, utilities, and project procurement.

Excellent negotiation, commercial acumen, and vendor management skills.

Strong analytical and budgeting skills with experience in CAPEX planning.

Knowledge of ERP/SAP, procurement systems, and MS Excel (advanced).

High integrity, documentation discipline, and audit compliance orientation.

Good communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.

Preferred Experience in Central Kitchens, Food Processing Plants, FMCG Manufacturing, Industrial Projects, Infrastructure, or Large NGO operations.

Exposure to greenfield / brownfield project procurement.

Knowledge of project management and contract management.
