Risk Oversight Leader for India & Philippines
About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking the Head of Independent Risk Management – India & Philippines. It is a strategic senior leadership position at Wells Fargo, responsible for independent risk management oversight across India and the Philippines. This role will lead a team of operational risk, compliance, and technology risk professionals, ensuring alignment with enterprise risk frameworks and regional regulatory requirements. The position is integral to the senior leadership team of I&P and serves as the primary contact for all risk matters. This role reports hardline into the Head of COO Risk Oversight, based in the US, and matrixed regionally into the Head of Corporate Risk in I&P. Compliance and Technology Risk teams overseeing the legal entity in-region will have a matrix reporting line to this leadership position in addition to having a hardline reporting into the respective Risk organizations in the US
In this role, you will:
- Provide vision and set direction for multiple high impact initiatives and teams, to achieve long term strategic objectives that impact organization and management across risk functions
- Collaborate with peers and leaders to develop highly complex, multi-year projects, strategies, goals and business ventures for Enterprise Risk
- Develop and implement strategic solutions to highly complex and potentially wide Enterprise Risk initiatives
- Lead strategic planning, risk administration, company governance, risk governance, risk architecture, risk investment, policy management and defining and executing a global support model for Enterprise Risk
- Lead a team of managers and professionals and develop longer term, companywide, higher risk strategies for Independent Risk Management, Enterprise Functions and the Front Line in order to achieve business objectives
- Collaborate with and influence all levels of professionals peers and leadership, enterprise committees and liaises in the development and execution of risk priorities
- Manage allocation of people and financial resources to ensure commitments are met and align with strategic objectives in Enterprise Risk
- Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years Risk Management (Compliance, Financial Crimes, Operational Risk, Audit, Legal, Credit Risk, Market Risk, IT Systems Security, Business Process Management) or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 4+ years of Management experience

- Strong knowledge of enterprise risk management frameworks, including risk identification, appetite, governance, and analytics.
- Deep understanding of regulatory environments in India and the Philippines.
- Proven ability to influence and build relationships across senior stakeholders in a matrixed organization.
- Experience in operational risk, compliance, and governance roles within financial services.
- Strategic thinker with a track record of driving risk culture and governance.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead large, diverse teams and complex projects.
- Results-oriented, with a focus on measurable outcomes and continuous improvement.
Job Expectations:
Legal Entity Risk Oversight
- Lead and unify independent risk management for India and Philippines legal entities.
- Serve as the primary regional contact for risk matters, including operational, compliance, strategic, and reputational risks.
- Engage with senior business leaders to actively review, challenge, and oversee front-line risk management effectiveness.
- Establish, maintain, and monitor a strong risk culture in partnership with control leaders, legal, and other teams.
- Oversee and credibly challenge front-line controls, including implementation and monitoring of the risk controls inventory.
- Advise on risk mitigation strategies and address gaps in control design or effectiveness.
- Provide holistic oversight and aggregation across all regional risk types, collaborating with regional risk leaders.
- Ensure business adherence to the International Strategic Plan and Wells Fargo’s risk appetite.
- Review and implement regional risk frameworks that fulfill local regulatory requirements.
- Establish and oversee corporate governance structures for effective risk discussion, escalation, and decision-making.
- Manage relationships with business heads, control leads, legal, and audit teams.
- Oversee adequacy of risk management resources, including team members, third-party resources, and technology.
- In addition to the legal entity oversight responsibilities, the incumbent may also be required to collaborate with global peers to ensure appropriate coverage and inclusion of Global Delivery Activities (GDA) that India and the Philippines legal entity execute on behalf of Wells Fargo bank, in the global assessments and reviews. In this capacity, the responsibilities may include.
Global Risk Delivery Oversight Leadership
- Provide vision and direction for high-impact, multi-year risk initiatives and teams.
- Collaborate with global peers and leaders to develop and implement strategic solutions for enterprise risk management.
- Monitor coverage and inclusion of GDAs in global risk assessments and reviews (executed by global teams), and review results to draw insights and identify regional themes.
- Lead strategic planning, risk administration, governance, architecture, investment, and policy management.
- Lead managers and professionals to develop long-term, companywide risk strategies for Independent Risk Management, Enterprise Functions, and the Front Line.
- Influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization, including enterprise committees and leadership teams.
- Manage allocation of people and financial resources to meet strategic objectives.
- Foster a culture of talent development aligned with business goals.
