Job Description
I’m looking for a motivated, people-friendly sales intern to help take my book directly to readers in real-world spaces like parks, cafés, corporate offices, co-working spaces, tech parks, book clubs, and community gatherings. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys conversations, understands how to read people, and believes that selling a book is more about connection than pressure.
This is a part-time, field-based role with flexible hours. You won’t be sitting behind a desk or cold-calling. Your work will involve engaging with people face-to-face, introducing the book naturally, sharing its story, and converting interest into sales.
About the Book
The book is a reflective, contemporary Indian work focused on life, love, and emotional journeys. It appeals especially to young professionals, readers in their 20s–40s, people interested in personal growth, relationships, and meaningful storytelling. Your role is not to “push” a product but to represent the book and the author with authenticity.
What You’ll Do
You’ll identify and approach potential selling locations such as public parks, cafés, MNC offices (with permission), corporate campuses, tech parks, hostels, reading communities, and informal social spaces. You’ll speak to individuals or small groups, understand their interests, and introduce the book in a way that feels natural and respectful.
You’ll handle on-the-spot sales, explain pricing, manage payments (UPI or cash), and keep simple daily records of where you went, who you spoke to, and how many copies were sold. You’ll also share real feedback from readers, common objections, and observations about what kind of people are most interested in the book.
Over time, you may also help identify recurring spots, potential partnerships with cafés or offices, and ideas for small pop-up reading or sales sessions.
Who This Is For
This role is best suited for someone who is confident speaking to strangers, comfortable initiating conversations, and able to handle rejection without losing energy. You don’t need prior sales experience, but you do need curiosity, emotional intelligence, and the ability to listen.
If you are a student, aspiring writer, marketer, salesperson, psychology or literature enthusiast, or someone exploring people-facing roles, this will be a strong real-world learning experience. If you already enjoy books and conversations about life, that’s a big plus.
Skills & Traits That Matter
You should be comfortable communicating in English and at least one Indian language (Telugu or Hindi preferred depending on location). You should have a calm, friendly presence and the ability to explain ideas simply. Basic discipline around time, reporting, and money handling is important.
You must be comfortable working independently, moving between locations, and adapting your pitch based on who you’re talking to.
Work Structure
This is a part-time role with flexible hours. Typically 2 to 4 hours a day, a few days a week, depending on location and footfall. You can choose slots like evenings or weekends when people are more relaxed and open to conversations.
Location will be city-based and largely outdoor or semi-public spaces.
Compensation
This will be performance-linked. You’ll receive a fixed per-copy commission for every book sold, with bonuses for consistent performance. Top performers may also get longer-term opportunities to work on future books, events, or brand collaborations.
