Software Engineer III, Google Cloud

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in an academic or industry setting.
• 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
• Experience in Storage, Cloud Storage, Google Cloud, Distributed Systems.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Experience in computer science, with data structures, algorithms, and software design.
• Experience in programming with Python, C++, Java/Kotlin or Golang.
• Knowledge of AI/ML with the ability to apply it to solve critical business problems.

Responsibilities

• Own parts of GCS Fuse which has an increasing customer base and usage due to the AI/ML revolution.
• Own, ideate, design, land and iterate on new features and improve performance of existing features, thereby building momentum to expand to more customers.
• Research into the existing usage, understanding API and service boundaries, and identifying customer needs (Program Manager support available).
• Find existing pain points. Own the design and execution and landing ideas successfully.
• Involve interaction with open source software and multiple languages so that the ability to scale beyond the existing toolkit is extremely important.
