Sourcing Manager - Raw Materials

Job Description Summary

As a Sourcing Manager – Raw Materials, you will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that ensure reliable supply, cost competitiveness, and compliance for raw materials used in pharmaceutical manufacturing. You will collaborate with global and regional stakeholders to drive supplier performance, risk mitigation, and innovation.

Job Description

Major accountabilities:

• Define and implement sourcing strategies for raw materials in alignment with global category strategies.
• Responsible to handle the spend approx. $50 Mio.
• Detailed analysis of the spend and align with the stakeholders
• Lead supplier selection, qualification, negotiation, and contracting processes.
• Manage supplier relationships and performance, ensuring adherence to quality, service, and cost expectations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality, Regulatory, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure end-to-end alignment.
• Drive supplier consolidation and preferred supplier usage in line with Novartis’ “Hands Free Buying” initiative.
• Utilize tools such as SAP Ariba for RFQs, contract creation, and operationalization of sourcing decisions.
• Monitor market trends and supply risks, and proactively develop mitigation strategies.
• Support sustainability and innovation initiatives within the raw materials category.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Chemistry, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 6+ years of experience in strategic sourcing or procurement, preferably in the pharmaceutical or chemical industry.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and project management skills.
• Proficiency in sourcing tools (e.g., SAP Ariba) and data analytics.
• Ability to work in a global matrix environment and influence cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of regulatory and quality requirements in pharmaceutical sourcing is a plus.
