Education Counsellor

An education counselor (or academic advisor/consultant) guides students in achieving academic and career goals by offering personalized advice on courses, university admissions, and skill development. They analyze student profiles, administer assessments, and support mental well-being to improve educational performance. They often work in schools or private consultancies. 

Key Responsibilities

• Academic Guidance: Provide one-on-one counseling on study habits, subject selection, and educational pathways.
• Career Counseling: Help students identify interests and skills, research career options, and set goals.
• Admissions Support: Assist with university applications, scholarship searches, and entrance exam preparations.
• Collaboration: Work with parents, teachers, and administrators to address behavioral or learning challenges.
• Information Sharing: Stay updated on educational trends, visa procedures, and market requirements.
• Documentation: Maintain confidential records, including assessment results and session notes. 

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
• Experience: Previous experience in academic advising, teaching, or a similar counseling role.
• Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with students, parents, and university delegates.
• Analytical Skills: Ability to assess student capabilities and interpret test results.
• Technological Proficiency: Familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel) and research tools.
• Empathy & Patience: Ability to understand student needs and provide emotional support.
