Education Counsellor

An Education Counselor provides academic, personal, and career guidance to students, helping them set educational goals, select courses, and navigate college or career planning. They assess student abilities, facilitate, support, and collaborate with families and staff to ensure student success and well-being. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Academic Guidance: Assisting with course selection, academic planning, and monitoring progress.
• Career/College Counseling: Advising on higher education opportunities, application processes, and career pathways.
• Student Support: Conducting one-on-one or group sessions to address personal, social, or behavioral challenges affecting education.
• Assessment: Administering aptitude and personality tests to help students identify strengths.
• Collaboration: Working with parents, teachers, and staff to create a supportive environment.
• Resource Development: Providing information on scholarships, financial aid, and specialized programs. 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills for listening and advising students, parents, and staff.
• Empathy & Patience: Ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds.
• Knowledge: Familiarity with educational trends, admission requirements, and career opportunities.
• Problem-Solving: Developing actionable plans to help students overcome challenges.
• Education: Typically requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree in school counseling, education, or psychology.
