Educational Counsellor

An Education Counselor guides students in making informed academic and career choices by assessing interests, providing personalized advice, developing educational plans, and offering support for personal challenges, working with students, parents, and staff to help them set and achieve goals for future success. Key duties include one-on-one sessions, career readiness workshops, college application assistance, and resource referral, focusing on skills like time management, study habits, and goal setting, ensuring alignment with educational trends. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Student Guidance: Provide individual and group counseling for academic, personal, and social issues, including bullying, low self-esteem, and study skills. 
• Academic & Career Planning: Help students choose courses, majors, and programs, and plan post-graduation paths (college, vocational). 
• Assessment: Administer and interpret tests (aptitude, personality) to identify student strengths and interests. 
• Support Programs: Develop and run workshops on college prep, job searching, and time management. 
• Resource Connection: Refer students and families to external mental health, financial aid, or social support services. 
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with parents, teachers, and administrators to create a supportive environment. 
• Record Keeping: Maintain confidential student records and track progress. 
• Stay Current: Keep updated on educational trends, admission processes, and career opportunities. 

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Education, or related field. 
• Skills: Strong communication, empathy, problem-solving, interpersonal skills, and knowledge of career paths and educational systems. 
• Experience: Previous experience in academic advising or counseling is often required.
