Merchandise Manager

A Garment Merchandising Manager acts as the crucial link between buyers and production, overseeing the entire product lifecycle from initial design concept to final shipment. Key responsibilities include sourcing materials, costing, negotiating, production planning, quality control, and ensuring on-time delivery while maximizing profitability. They lead teams to align product assortments with market trends. 

Key Responsibilities

• Product Development & Sampling: Managing the development of samples (fit, pre-production, TOP) and getting approvals from buyers.
• Sourcing & Costing: Negotiating with suppliers for fabric, accessories, and raw materials to meet target costs.
• Production Planning & Coordination: Coordinating between buying houses and manufacturing units to ensure timely production, scheduling, and shipment.
• Quality Assurance: Ensuring products meet buyer standards and specifications.
• Inventory & Data Analysis: Monitoring stock levels, analyzing sales data to identify trends, and adjusting strategies.
• Team Leadership: Managing and training the merchandising team, setting KPIs, and ensuring adherence to company standards. 

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Experience: Prior experience in garment manufacturing, apparel production, or fashion buying.
• Technical Knowledge: Understanding of fabrics, garment construction, manufacturing processes, and costing.
• Negotiation & Communication: Strong skills in negotiating with vendors and communicating with international buyers.
• Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze market trends and sales data to inform purchasing decisions.
• Software Proficiency: Familiarity with Excel and ERP systems is typically required.
