Job Title: Pharmacist

Job Summary:

The pharmacist is responsible for preparing, dispensing, and overseeing the use of medications for patients, providing information and advice on the safe and effective use of medications, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. This role involves collaborating with healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes, managing medication inventory, and delivering exceptional patient care in a clinical or retail pharmacy setting.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Medication Dispensing and Counseling:

Accurately prepare and dispense prescriptions as per physician orders.

Counsel patients on the correct usage, potential side effects, and storage of medications.

Provide guidance on over-the-counter medications and recommend alternatives when necessary.

2. Medication Management and Compliance:

Review and interpret prescriptions to ensure accuracy, dosage, and safety.

Verify any potential drug interactions and contraindications based on patient history.

Ensure adherence to all legal, ethical, and regulatory requirements.

3. Patient and Healthcare Collaboration:

Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to optimize medication plans.

Conduct medication therapy management (MTM) to assess and address any issues related to medication adherence.

Provide immunizations (if certified) and advise on health and wellness services.

4. Inventory and Documentation:

Manage inventory levels, including ordering, stocking, and tracking medications.

Maintain accurate records of prescriptions and transactions.

Ensure proper storage and handling of medications, especially those requiring special conditions.

5. Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement:

Engage in continuous education to stay updated on new drugs, therapies, and pharmaceutical advancements.

Implement quality control measures to minimize dispensing errors.

Support pharmacy technicians and other staff, offering guidance and oversight as needed.

Qualifications:

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution.

Active state pharmacy license in good standing.

Knowledge of medication therapy management, patient counseling, and healthcare regulations.

Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred Skills:

Certification in immunization delivery.

Experience with pharmacy management software.

Familiarity with clinical pharmacy practices.
