Housekeeping Staff

About the RoleWe are seeking a reliable and meticulous Housekeeping Staff Member / School Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, teachers, and staff across our school campus. This role is crucial to the daily operation and well-being of our entire community. The successful candidate will be responsible for general cleaning and sanitation across all areas of the school.

Key ResponsibilitiesThe primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• General Cleaning & MaintenanceClassrooms & Offices: Dusting furniture and fixtures, wiping down surfaces (desks, tables, shelves), emptying waste bins, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors.
• Corridors & Common Areas: Sweeping, mopping, or vacuuming hallways, stairwells, and entrance lobbies. Removing litter and maintaining cleanliness of all high-traffic areas.
• Toilets/Restrooms: Thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting all bathroom fixtures (toilets, urinals, sinks), walls, and floors daily. Restocking toilet paper, paper towels, and soap dispensers.
• Specialized Areas (Labs, Gyms, Libraries): Applying appropriate cleaning methods and chemicals to maintain specialized areas like science labs (following safety protocols), computer labs, and gymnasiums.
• Window Cleaning: Cleaning interior windows, glass partitions, and door windows.
• Safety & HealthEnsuring the use of proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and following all health and safety regulations, particularly when handling cleaning chemicals.
• Identifying and reporting maintenance issues or safety hazards (e.g., broken fixtures, leaks, damaged flooring) to the maintenance supervisor promptly.
• Performing deep cleaning and sanitization, especially during health outbreaks or as required by school protocol.
• Operational SupportManaging and maintaining an organized inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Setting up and putting away furniture/equipment for special school events (e.g., assemblies, parent-teacher nights) as needed.
• Ensuring all exit doors are secured and lights are turned off at the end of the shift.
• Required Qualifications & SkillsProven experience in commercial cleaning, custodial work, or general housekeeping is preferred.
• Familiarity with standard cleaning equipment (e.g., vacuum cleaners, buffers, floor machines) and industrial cleaning products.
• Knowledge of health and safety standards related to cleaning and chemical handling.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, lift (up to 25 lbs), bend, and perform manual labor for extended periods.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time effectively to complete all assigned tasks.
• Must be reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.
• A background check and drug screening may be required upon hiring.
• Work EnvironmentThis position is based entirely on the school campus.
• The schedule may require evening or weekend shifts, particularly during deeper cleaning periods or for event support.
