Technical Engineer

1. Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Technical Service Engineer specialized in Ramming Mass and Castables lining application for induction furnace and steel plant operations.

The role involves on-site supervision, troubleshooting, lining monitoring, and application support across any region in India.

The candidate must be capable of independently handling refractory lining processes and ensuring smooth furnace performance.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Lining Application & Supervision

- Supervise ramming mass application, wall & bottom lining and layer-wise compaction.

- Monitor lining profile, coils safety, and installation sequence.

- Guide and supervise castables installation, formwork, vibration, curing, and baking.

B. Sintering & Curing

- Set and monitor proper sintering curves (manual or PLC-based).

- Ensure correct heating schedule to avoid cracks, spalling, or premature lining failure.

- Certify lining after completion and maintain sintering reports.

C. Troubleshooting & Monitoring

- Diagnose issues such as

- Metal penetration

- ⁠Cracks or hot spots

- ⁠Premature lining failures

- ⁠Bottom heaving or erosion

- ⁠Coil exposure and leakage

- ⁠Suggest corrective actions based on furnace design, coil condition, and process behavior.

D. Technical Guidance to Customers

- Provide on-site technical support to operators and management.

- ⁠Recommend the correct grade of ramming mass or castables based on scrap mix, furnace tonnage, and tap-to-tap cycle.

- ⁠Monitor lining performance and maintain customers' lining life database.

E. Documentation

- Maintain daily visit reports, lining measurements, sintering logs, and failure-analysis reports.

- ⁠Submit technical observations and performance summaries to the management.

3. Required Skills & Competencies

- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in induction furnace refractory lining or castables application.

- Deep understanding of:

- Acidic, Neutral & Basic Ramming Mass

- All types of castables

- Silica sintering behavior

- Furnace coil protection

- Strong troubleshooting capability for lining-related operational problems.

- Ability to work independently and travel anywhere in India.

- Good interpersonal communication with operators and plant heads.

- Basic reporting and documentation ability (WhatsApp, Excel, or simple formats).

4. Educational Qualification

- No strict educational requirement.

- ⁠Experience and technical capability will be given maximum preference.

5. Work Mode

- Work from Home with Pan-India service travel as per plant requirement.

- Travel expenses will be reimbursed as per policy.
