Manager - GMP and Compliance (Process)
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Primary Functions
- Provide overall leadership to the operations team on GMP & compliance.
- Responsible for planning, execution, monitoring, and overall supervision of safeguard initiatives (protecting the product, GMP compliance) as per Abbott Standards.
- Ensure the highest standards of food safety, GMP, hygiene, quality, and system compliance.
- Drive projects and actions related to continuous improvement.
Major Responsibilities
GMP, Hygiene & Compliance
- Ensure the highest standards of GMP and hygiene compliance in Manufacturing.
- Drive a culture of food safety and quality at the shop floor through systems and monitoring plans.
- Ensure there are no operational impacts due to GMP and compliance-related issues.
- Identify GMP improvement actions, ensure closure, monitor compliance, and support sustenance.
- Optimize GMP maintenance work orders and ensure change‑management compliance.
- Ensure 100% adherence to SOPs for operations, cleaning, and hygiene.
- Handle internal and external audits and compliance reviews, ensuring food safety compliance in Manufacturing.
People, Culture & Training
- Promote and foster good human relations within the department and across the plant.
- Ensure employees embrace Abbott Values.
- Lead career development, planning, and performance discussions for team members.
- Provide relevant training to educate and motivate employees to maintain the highest levels of food safety and compliance.
- Engage self and the operations team in continuous improvement.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive the Business Excellence Program and Lean/Six Sigma initiatives (RCA, OSW, etc.).
- Analyze root causes and execute CAPA for events, GMP observations, and compliance issues.
- Lead and manage specific projects as required.
- Ensure timely reporting of Safety, Quality, Food Safety, and People-related incidents.
Maintenance, Cleaning & Safeguard
- Periodically review maintenance programs for all equipment and facilities to ensure food safety and hygiene.
- Execute standardized non‑routine cleanings, risk assessments, and mitigation actions as per revised EMP policy.
- Investigate non-routine detects and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Drive global CAPA assessment and execution.
- Execute preventive actions proactively to avoid POP events as per revised safeguard policy.
- Ensure documentation aligns with global safeguard policy compliance.
- Ensure 5S and safe working practices across operations, including storage and handling of cleaning and sanitizing chemicals.
Education
- Bachelor of Science in:
- Dairy Technology
- Mechanical Engineering
- Food Science
- Microbiology
- 2–5 years of experience (or Diploma with relevant experience).
- Strong people-management skills.
- Good understanding of production and/or material operations.
- Knowledge of planning and forecasting techniques.
- Knowledge of Quality & Food Safety systems.
- Proficiency in Gujarati is an added advantage.
