Propellant - Maintenance Lead

Responsibilities

•    Oversee the development, scheduling, and execution of preventive maintenance programs for all plant equipment, including machinery, pumps, HVAC systems, electrical systems, and safety devices. 
•    Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic failures promptly to minimize downtime and ensure smooth production processes. 
•    Perform regular inspections of plant equipment and systems to identify issues and ensure proper functioning.
•    Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in strict adherence to safety guidelines, company policies, and industry regulations, particularly those relevant to hazardous materials and propellant manufacturing. 
•    Maintain compliance with relevant regulatory standards related to plant operations and maintenance practices. 
•    Lead safety audits, risk assessments, and the investigation of near-miss incidents or accidents to implement corrective actions.
•    Implement predictive maintenance strategies using data analysis and monitoring tools to detect early signs of equipment malfunction. 
•    Track maintenance activities, generate work orders, and maintain detailed records. 
•    Collaborate with the engineering and production teams to identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, uptime, and efficiency.
•    Act as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting critical equipment failures and lead the team in resolving issues. 
•    Work cross-functionally with operations and engineering teams to identify root causes of failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
•    Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize maintenance processes, improve machine reliability, and increase overall plant efficiency. 
•    Analyze maintenance data and trends to recommend improvements in equipment design, preventative strategies, and operating procedures.
•    Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including completed work orders, inspections, repairs, and equipment upgrades. 
•    Prepare and submit reports on maintenance performance, including downtime analysis, maintenance costs, and asset management metrics. Ensure all documentation complies with internal and external audit requirements.

Qualifications

Educational Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in plant maintenance of propellant, explosives, or related hazardous manufacturing environments. 
  • Familiarity with ISO standards or similar certifications. 
    Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance

Experiences:

  • Minimum of 8 – 10 years of experience in maintenance, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role, ideally in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Experience in propellant, chemical, or aerospace industries is highly desirable. Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control systems.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing complex machinery and systems. 
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills. 
  • Strong knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance, particularly in hazardous material handling.
