Job Description
A procurement Manager acts as a strategic architect for the supply chain, ensuring that raw materials, packaging, and services are acquired efficiently to support high-volume production
Key Roles
- Strategic Architect: Designing a supply network that can handle sudden spikes in consumer demand without stockouts.
- Value Optimizer: Moving beyond "lowest price" to focus on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), including logistics and storage costs.
- Innovation Partner: Working with suppliers to source sustainable materials or new ingredients that give the brand a competitive edge.
Core Responsibilities
- Sourcing & Vendor Management: Identifying and vetting suppliers who can meet the rigorous quality and safety standards required for consumer goods.
- Contract Negotiation: Locking in prices for raw materials (like palm oil, sugar, or plastic resins) to protect the company from sudden market inflation.
- Inventory Control: Coordinating with the supply chain team to ensure "Just-in-Time" delivery, minimizing the capital tied up in warehouses.
- Risk Mitigation: Developing "Plan B" sourcing routes to prevent disruptions caused by weather, port strikes, or geopolitical issues.
- Sustainability Compliance: Ensuring all vendors adhere to ethical labor practices and environmental regulations, which is increasingly vital for brand reputation.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partnering with R&D for new product launches and Finance for budget alignment and spend analysis.
Required Competencies
- Agility: The ability to pivot sourcing strategies in hours, not weeks, when a shipment fails.
- Data Literacy: Using e-procurement tools to track real-time spend and supplier performance.
- Negotiation Power: Balancing firmness on costs with the need to maintain long-term, healthy supplier partnerships
