Job Description
Key Responsibilities
1. Safety Management & Compliance
- Develop, implement, and monitor EHS policies and procedures in line with statutory regulations.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and national safety laws (Factory Act, OSHA standards, Pollution Control norms, etc.).
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across production and warehouse areas.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and ensure timely statutory reporting.
2. Production & Warehouse Safety
- Oversee machine safety, material handling safety, racking systems, forklift operations, and loading/unloading practices.
- Implement safe work procedures (SWP) for production lines and warehouse activities.
- Monitor high-risk activities including working at height, confined space entry, hot work, and electrical safety.
- Ensure safe storage of hazardous materials and chemicals as per MSDS guidelines.
- Establish traffic management plans within warehouse and plant premises.
Ensure safe operation of:
Forklifts, reach trucks, stackers, pallet trucks
Racking systems and high-bay storage
Loading/unloading docks and dispatch areas
Conveyor systems and packaging lines
Develop SOPs for material handling, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch operations.
Monitor contractor and third-party manpower safety compliance.
3. Incident Management & Risk Control
- Investigate accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Maintain incident records and analyze trends for preventive measures.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and submit detailed reports to management.
4. Training & Awareness
- Conduct regular safety training programs, toolbox talks, mock drills (fire, emergency evacuation).
- Drive safety culture initiatives and awareness campaigns.
- Ensure induction training for all new employees, contractors, and visitors.
5. Environmental Management
- Monitor waste disposal, emissions, effluent treatment, and environmental compliance.
- Ensure adherence to sustainability and pollution control norms.
- Maintain documentation related to environmental audits and certifications (ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
6. Emergency Preparedness
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans.
- Coordinate fire safety systems, firefighting equipment maintenance, and emergency evacuation drills.
- Lead emergency response teams during incidents.
7. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain all statutory registers and compliance records.
- Prepare monthly EHS performance reports and present safety KPIs to management.
- Track safety metrics including LTI, TRIR, near miss reporting, and audit scores.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Science / Environmental Studies.
- Diploma/Certification in Industrial Safety (Mandatory).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in EHS management within manufacturing and warehouse environments.
- Strong knowledge of statutory compliance and safety regulations.
- Experience in ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 implementation preferred.
