Job Description

Key Responsibilities

1. Safety Management & Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and monitor EHS policies and procedures in line with statutory regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and national safety laws (Factory Act, OSHA standards, Pollution Control norms, etc.).
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across production and warehouse areas.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities and ensure timely statutory reporting.

2. Production & Warehouse Safety

  • Oversee machine safety, material handling safety, racking systems, forklift operations, and loading/unloading practices.
  • Implement safe work procedures (SWP) for production lines and warehouse activities.
  • Monitor high-risk activities including working at height, confined space entry, hot work, and electrical safety.
  • Ensure safe storage of hazardous materials and chemicals as per MSDS guidelines.
  • Establish traffic management plans within warehouse and plant premises.

Ensure safe operation of:

Forklifts, reach trucks, stackers, pallet trucks

Racking systems and high-bay storage

Loading/unloading docks and dispatch areas

Conveyor systems and packaging lines

Develop SOPs for material handling, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch operations.

Monitor contractor and third-party manpower safety compliance.

3. Incident Management & Risk Control

  • Investigate accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Maintain incident records and analyze trends for preventive measures.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and submit detailed reports to management.

4. Training & Awareness

  • Conduct regular safety training programs, toolbox talks, mock drills (fire, emergency evacuation).
  • Drive safety culture initiatives and awareness campaigns.
  • Ensure induction training for all new employees, contractors, and visitors.

5. Environmental Management

  • Monitor waste disposal, emissions, effluent treatment, and environmental compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to sustainability and pollution control norms.
  • Maintain documentation related to environmental audits and certifications (ISO 14001, ISO 45001).

6. Emergency Preparedness

  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans.
  • Coordinate fire safety systems, firefighting equipment maintenance, and emergency evacuation drills.
  • Lead emergency response teams during incidents.

7. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain all statutory registers and compliance records.
  • Prepare monthly EHS performance reports and present safety KPIs to management.
  • Track safety metrics including LTI, TRIR, near miss reporting, and audit scores.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Science / Environmental Studies.
  • Diploma/Certification in Industrial Safety (Mandatory).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in EHS management within manufacturing and warehouse environments.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory compliance and safety regulations.
  • Experience in ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 implementation preferred.
