In-Process Quality Engineer (Sheet Metal Fabrication Industry)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented In-Process Quality Engineer to join our team in the fabrication industry. The ideal candidate will have a Mechanical Engineering degree with 3-10 years of experience in quality engineering within a fabrication environment. The candidate should possess strong knowledge of various welding techniques, production planning, and proficient skills in reading technical drawings.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Quality Assurance: Conduct in-process quality inspections to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications throughout the fabrication process.

2. Welding Expertise: Demonstrate proficiency in different types of welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, and Arc welding, ensuring the integrity and quality of welded components.

3. Production Planning: Assist in production planning activities to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of fabrication projects, coordinating with production teams to optimize processes.

4. Drawing Interpretation: Utilize strong skills in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to verify compliance with design requirements and specifications.

5. Defect Analysis: Perform defect analysis and root cause investigations to identify and address quality issues promptly, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

6. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of quality inspection results, non-conformances, and corrective actions taken, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal procedures.

Qualifications and Experience:

- Dip/Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

- 3-10 years of experience in quality engineering within the Sheet metal fabrication industry.

- Proficient knowledge of various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Arc, etc.).

- Hands-on experience in production planning and scheduling.

- Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints.

- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

- Detail-oriented with a commitment to ensuring product quality and customer satisfaction.

- Familiarity with quality management systems and standards (ISO 9001, ASME, AWS, etc.) is a plus.
