 * Women Empowerment: The scheme specifically targets women aged 18-70, with a minimum 10th-grade education. Preference is often given to women residing in rural areas.

 * Stipendiary Scheme: Unlike traditional LIC agents, Bima Sakhis receive a fixed monthly stipend for the first three years in addition to commissions earned from policy sales.

  * 1st Year: ₹7,000 per month

  * 2nd Year: ₹6,000 per month (subject to 65% of policies from the 1st year remaining active)

  * 3rd Year: ₹5,000 per month (subject to 65% of policies from the 2nd year remaining active)

 * Comprehensive Training: LIC provides structured training programs for three years, covering insurance products, financial literacy tools, and policy details.

 * Flexible Working Hours: Bima Sakhis have the flexibility to set their own working hours, making it suitable for homemakers and others seeking to manage work-life balance.

 * Career Progression: After completing the three-year training, Bima Sakhis continue as LIC agents. Graduates of the program may also be eligible for development officer roles within LIC.

Job Role (Responsibilities of a Bima Sakhi Agent):

Once trained and appointed as an LIC Bima Sakhi agent, the primary responsibilities include:

 * Educating Communities: Spreading awareness about the importance of insurance and its various benefits among individuals and families, especially in rural areas.

 * Financial Advising: Guiding families toward better financial management and helping them understand their insurance needs.

 * Selling Insurance Policies: Assisting families in securing suitable LIC insurance policies that align with their requirements.

 * Promoting Financial Inclusion: Contributing to the expansion of insurance penetration in previously underserved regions.

 * Building Client Relationships: Developing trust and maintaining long-term relationships with clients.

 * Meeting Performance Norms: Achieving targets related to the number of lives insured and first-year commissions to remain eligible for the stipend in subsequent years.

Eligibility to Become a Bima Sakhi Agent:

 * Gender: Exclusively for women.

 * Age: Between 18 and 70 years (as of the date of application).

 * Education: Minimum 10th-grade pass. Graduates may have opportunities for Development Officer roles later.

 * Residency: Preference is given to women residing in rural areas.

 * Exclusions: Relatives of existing LIC agents or employees (including spouse, children, parents, siblings, and immediate in-laws), retired LIC employees, and ex-agents seeking reappointment are generally not eligible. Existing LIC agents cannot apply under this scheme.
