The Digital & Emerging Technologies (DET) practice works with clients to analyse, formulate, design, mobilize and drive digital transformation initiatives. Your key responsibilities

• Infrastructure Management: Design and manage the infrastructure for Kafka to ensure it meets the scalability, availability, and performance requirements of the mobile banking app project.
• Access management: Manage access to the system for both internal and external user
• Networking Configuration: Configure and maintain the network settings essential for optimal Kafka operation, including but not limited to bandwidth management, firewall configurations, and secure network architecture.
• Cluster Scaling: Proactively scale Kafka clusters based on throughput requirements and data volume growth to handle increased load efficiently.
• Version Upgrades: Plan and execute Kafka version upgrades with minimal downtime, ensuring that new features and improvements are leveraged while maintaining system stability.
• Performance Monitoring: Implement comprehensive monitoring for Kafka clusters to track performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and initiate corrective actions to maintain desired performance levels.
• Security Implementation: Enforce security best practices for Kafka, including encryption in transit and at rest, authentication, authorization, and audit logging to protect sensitive data.

Skills and attributes for success

• Kafka Expertise: Deep understanding of Kafka architecture, ecosystem, and internal workings, including brokers, zookeepers, producers, consumers, and connectors.
• Infrastructure Knowledge: Solid background in infrastructure design and operations, particularly in environments that support high-throughput, distributed systems like Kafka.
• Networking Proficiency: Strong knowledge of networking concepts relevant to Kafka deployment, including load balancing, network partitioning, and secure network architecture.
• Scaling and Performance Tuning: Experience with scaling Kafka clusters, performance tuning, and optimization to handle high volumes of data and transactions.
• Security Practices: Knowledge of security mechanisms applicable to Kafka, including SSL/TLS, SASL for authentication, and ACLs for authorization.
• Monitoring and Logging Tools: Familiarity with monitoring and logging solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack) tailored for Kafka environments.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to quickly diagnose and resolve infrastructure-related issues.
• Communication and Collaboration: Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with development teams, security, and other stakeholders to align Kafka infrastructure with project requirements.
• Agile/DevOps Experience: Experience in Agile and DevOps environments, with a focus on continuous improvement, automation, and efficient operations.
• Experience in automation using Jenkins / Ansible / Terraform etc.
• Experience in Support engagements across different time zone.
• Experience in supporting engagements using best practices of ITIL service management.
