Legal Researcher

Key Responsibilities:

• Research, Analysis and DraftingStudy and analyse Human Rights laws, criminal and civil laws (both domestic and international), specifically related to gender-based rights, child protection and violence against women and children.
• Undertake legal research and draft succinct memos.
• Record emerging jurisprudence and relevant changes in the legal regime.
• Analyse jurisprudence (domestic and international) to identify and map best practices. 
• Create diverse products from research which includes training material, legal strategies and recommendations to the State.
• Collect and analyse data to establish patterns and to make the criminal justice system and the judiciary more victim centric.
• Litigation supportSupport to Litigators
• Conduct legal research and prepare written briefs on questions of law and procedure to support strategic interventions. 
• Draft applications and petitions in a wide range of cases.
• Attend Court hearings along with litigators in a supporting role. 
• Document the progress of cases.
• Support and CollaborationsParticipate in conferences and in-depth discussions with subject matter experts on relevant issues.
• Coordinate with the different verticals of the organisation. 
• MiscellaneousMaintain thorough documentation related to the work being undertaken.
• Travel will be required on a need basis.  
• Undertake organisational and administrative work (20-25 percent). 

Minimum Qualifications: 

• Academic:  B.A. LL.B. and LLM / Master’s degree (desirable)
• Languages:  English, Hindi and Regional Language
• Work Experience: Minimum 2-3 years
