Job Description
Role Overview
The Sales Manager will be the primary driver of revenue growth and market penetration within the assigned geography. This is a senior individual contributor-cum-team leader role that demands strategic thinking, robust channel management capabilities, and an ability to build lasting client relationships with architects & interior designers
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Sales Strategy & Revenue Generation
● Develop and execute comprehensive sales plans to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets for the assigned territory.
● Identify and capitalise on new market opportunities, emerging customer segments, and untapped geographies within Kolkata region.
● Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and pricing dynamics to refine go-to-market strategies proactively.
Key Account & Institutional Sales
● Develop and nurture relationships with architects, interior designers & project consultants.
● Drive project sales through timely product specifications, sampling support, and technical presentations.
● Ensure seamless coordination between pre-sales and post-sales service for large accounts.
Team Leadership & Development
● Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Sales Executives, setting individual targets and reviewing performance on a regular basis.
● Conduct structured field coaching, accompany team members on customer visits, and ensure skill development through on-the-job training.
● Foster a performance culture by recognising achievements and addressing gaps with timely feedback.
Reporting & MIS
● Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM records; submit weekly and monthly sales reports, pipeline trackers, and market intelligence reports to senior management.
● Track DSO (Days Sales Outstanding) and coordinate with the finance team for timely collections.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
● Minimum 6 years of proven field sales experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial or team-leading role.
● Prior experience in sanitaryware, building materials or related construction / home-improvement segments is strongly preferred.
● Demonstrated ability to consistently achieve and exceed sales targets in a competitive market environment.
● Strong understanding of channel sales dynamics, dealer management, and secondary sales mechanisms.
Competencies & Skills
● Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to influence at multiple levels.
● Strong analytical mindset — comfortable working with data, dashboards, and CRM tools.
● Self-motivated, resilient, and capable of operating with a high degree of autonomy.
● Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with CRM software is an advantage.
● Fluency in English and Bengali ; Hindi proficiency is desirable.
