Job Title: Accountant cum Office Assistant (Civil Construction – Government Projects)

Job Summary

The Accountant cum Office Assistant is responsible for handling day-to-day accounting functions, office administration, and documentation related to civil construction projects, especially government contracts. The role supports project teams by ensuring accurate financial records, compliance with statutory and government requirements, and smooth office operations.


Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Finance

Maintain daily books of accounts (cash book, bank book, ledger)


Record project-wise expenses and income


Prepare bills, vouchers, and payment entries


Assist in preparation of running account (RA) bills and final bills for government projects


Track advances, retention money, and security deposits


Handle vendor, subcontractor, and labor payments


Reconcile bank statements regularly


Assist in GST accounting, returns, and compliance


Maintain TDS records and support statutory filings


Coordinate with auditors and consultants when required


Government Project Documentation

Maintain project files as per government department requirements


Handle EMD, SD, BG (Bank Guarantee), and related documentation


Maintain tender documents, work orders, agreements, and correspondence


Support compliance with government audit and inspection processes


Track approvals, certificates, and submission deadlines


Office Administration

Handle general office work, filing, and record maintenance


Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence


Prepare letters, reports, and basic documentation


Maintain attendance, wage records, and labor documentation


Coordinate with site engineers and project managers for required data


Assist management with day-to-day administrative tasks


Required Skills & Competencies

Knowledge of accounting principles and construction accounting


Familiarity with government project procedures and documentation


Working knowledge of GST, TDS, and statutory compliance


Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and accounting software (Tally preferred)


Good organizational and record-keeping skills


Ability to coordinate with multiple departments and sites


Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines


Educational Qualifications

B.Com / M.Com / BBA (Finance) or equivalent


Diploma or certification in accounting (preferred
