Job Title: Factory Manager – Furniture Manufacturing
Location: Lucknow
Reporting To: Director / Owner
Industry: Furniture Manufacturing (Residential, Office & Customized Furniture)
Job Summary : We are seeking an experienced and result-oriented Factory Manager to lead end-to-end operations of our furniture manufacturing unit. The candidate will be responsible for production planning, manpower management, material control, quality assurance, cost optimization, SOP implementation, and new product development.
The role demands strong leadership, deep technical knowledge of furniture production, and the ability to drive efficiency, quality, and profitability.
- Key Responsibilities
1. Production & Operations Management
- Plan, organize, and control daily furniture production activities to meet delivery schedules.
- Ensure smooth workflow across carpentry, polishing, finishing, upholstery, and installation preparation.
- Monitor machine utilization, production capacity, and output efficiency.
- Coordinate with design, sales, and project teams for customized and turnkey furniture orders.
2. Furniture Production Knowledge Strong hands-on understanding of:
- Wooden furniture (solid wood, plywood, MDF, particle board)
- Modular furniture systems
- Veneer, laminate, PU, melamine, and polish finishes
- Hardware fittings (hinges, channels, locks, connectors, accessories)
- Ability to troubleshoot production issues and improve product durability and finish quality.
3. Material Planning & Inventory Control
- Plan raw material requirements as per production schedules.
- Control wastage of wood, boards, hardware, polish materials, and consumables.
- Maintain optimum inventory levels and coordinate with procurement for timely sourcing.
- Evaluate alternative materials for cost saving without compromising quality.
4. Manpower & Human Resource Handling
- Manage factory workforce including supervisors, carpenters, polishers, helpers, and contract labor.
- Allocate manpower effectively across departments.
- Maintain discipline, attendance, productivity, and workplace safety.
- Train workers on best practices, quality standards, and new techniques.
- Handle labor issues with maturity, fairness, and strong leadership.
5. Quality Control & SOP Implementation Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for:
- Production processes
- Quality checkpoints
- Material handling
- Safety and housekeeping
- Ensure consistent quality standards across all furniture products.
- Reduce rework, rejection, and customer complaints through process improvement.
6. Cost Control & Continuous Improvement Analyze production costs and identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvement.
- Implement lean manufacturing practices and productivity enhancement ideas.
- Monitor labor cost, material cost, overheads, and machine maintenance expenses.
- Suggest innovative ideas to improve margins and operational efficiency.
7. New Product Development (NPD)Support development of new furniture designs, finishes, and construction methods.
- Work closely with design and management for prototyping and sampling.
- Optimize designs for manufacturability, durability, and cost efficiency.
- Keep updated with market trends, materials, and hardware innovations.
8. Safety, Maintenance & Compliance Ensure compliance with safety norms, fire safety, and factory discipline.
- Oversee machine maintenance schedules and reduce breakdowns.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe factory environment.
- Desired Candidate Profile
- Education Diploma / Degree in Furniture Design, Production Engineering, Mechanical, Interior, or related field (preferred)
- Practical experience will be valued more than formal education
- Experience Minimum 8–12 years experience in furniture manufacturing
- At least 3–5 years in a leadership role (Factory Manager / Production Head / Operations Manager)
