Job Description
- 🌞 Residential Solar Consultant – Roles & Responsibilities
- 1️⃣ Lead Handling & Customer Interaction Connect with inbound and outbound leads (calls, WhatsApp, site walk-ins).
- Understand customer needs: electricity bill, roof type, budget, net-metering status.
- Explain how rooftop solar works in simple, non-technical language.
- Build trust and act as the single point of contact for the customer.
- 2️⃣ Site Assessment & FeasibilityConduct preliminary site surveys (physical or via photos/videos).
- Check shadow-free area, roof orientation, structure strength, and access.
- Calculate possible system size (kW) based on roof area and consumption.
- Identify constraints early (shade, old structure, discom issues).
- 3️⃣ System Design & ProposalRecommend optimal system size (On-Grid / Hybrid / Battery-ready).
- Prepare commercial proposal/quotation with clear break-up.
- Explain:
- Expected generation (units/year)
- Savings on electricity bills
- Payback period & ROI
- Present government subsidy eligibility (where applicable).
- 4️⃣ Sales Closure & DocumentationNegotiate pricing within company-approved margins.
- Close deals and collect:
- Token / advance payment
- KYC documents (Aadhaar, electricity bill, property proof).
- Ensure accurate and complete paperwork to avoid delays.
- 5️⃣ Coordination with Internal TeamsCoordinate with:
- Design & engineering team
- Installation & commissioning team
- Net-metering / DISCOM liaison team
- Share site details, drawings, and customer expectations clearly.
- Track project milestones from order to commissioning.
- 6️⃣ Customer Education & Expectation ManagementEducate customer about:
- Installation timeline
- Net-metering approval process
- Generation variations (seasonal)
- Handle objections related to:
- Pricing
- Roof safety
- Maintenance concerns
- 7️⃣ Post-Installation Support & Relationship BuildingEnsure smooth system handover and explanation.
- Guide customer on:
- Monitoring app usage
- Basic do’s & don’ts
- Take feedback and encourage:
- Referrals
- Reviews and testimonials
- 8️⃣ Reporting & CRM UpdatesUpdate CRM / daily reports with:
- Lead status
- Follow-ups
- Closures
- Track conversion ratio and follow up on cold leads.
- 🎯 Key Skills RequiredStrong communication & persuasion skills
- Basic understanding of solar technology & regulations
- Customer-centric mindset
- Negotiation & follow-up discipline
- Local DISCOM/subsidy knowledge (big plus)
